Trans cooler was supplied by my trans builder... as part of the complete strip down and rebuild with all the good bits, incl converter.... $2400 all up.

Not sure of cost of trans cooler on its own. Would think probably around $200 mark, but don't quote me.

serviced trans about a month ago, and oil was still good after 14 months and 20,000 km. Oil was clean with no discolouration or burnt odour (no sign of overheating) and there was minimal material found in filter when I split it open.

All clutches and bands still good, no scoring, no damage, still working well with over 300 rwkw.

If you live in an area where temps get high, and/or you tow or carry loads (ute) or you drive enthusiastically for more than just a brief 60 seconds.... get a decent sized trans cooler fitted, even if it's a stocky.

It's a cheap mod which will extend the life of any trans, but especially ones sitting behind modified high power motors driving through converters with raised stall speeds.

Nothing heats up the trans oil quicker than doing a brake stall at elevated rpm.

(although towing heavy loads over distance would probably be the worst scenario)

Heres mine, fitted in front of the drivers wheel with a Davies Craig thermo fan on the front of it.

Hey Danno i didnt notice before but you know you have that fan mounted upside down? The little rubber thingo next to the wires is supposed to be a drain for condensation.....

ford now do trans cooler for BF h/duty tow pack , so should fit BA .

it fits half way up radiator and is the hole width of the radiator comes with all new pipes and everything you need .so I will find out on weekend when I fit it up. will keep you posted..

I'm fitting a transcooler to my car tommorow, At this stage it looks like it will be living just behind the intercooler.... I'll take some pics....... Provided I don't loose my temper if things don't go my way!

just to let you know the BF trans cooler wont fit the BA not enough room and all hoses are diffrent..

so back to drawing board !!!!!!

Hey Guys

My first post....

Is the Transmission cooler on the ZF Auto sufficient or should it be upgraded for track days? What type would be best and where can I source one from?

I have not picked up my car yet as I have to wait until June (Fleet car), but because this wait is killing me I may aswell do some research.
