Hi All

Just had another incident where the throttle fault indicator had came on. just wondering if its happened to anyone else.

on start up the car idles fine but when shifting into drive (auto) or reverse the transmission will pop into gear and car starts to rev higher going up to 2000 then drops to 1500. the throttle fault indicator will come on and stay illuminated, if move off the car feels like its in limp mode and if shift back to park the car will rev up to 3000 and drops rev and shut off.

this has happed twice now, what I've done was just start the car and let it idle for 5 min and shift in to gear and all will be ok. hopefully its a sensor fault and not anything major, but will bring it to ford to get it checked out..

What's the throttle fault indicator??

I have had a TPS fault and the engine shut down altogether, the engine fault light came on... simple replacement of the sensor.

just another question..

I have the edit on and if I load up the factory tune so I can take it back to ford to get it checked out, will that remove any fault codes that might be logged on the pcm??

Id flash it back to factory map, and wait for the problem to log again, then I would take it back to Ford.

That way, if it never plays up whilst loaded up on the Factory map, you know its a problem with the Edit.

Hope this helps.

If your lucky it will be a simple clean of the throttle body and away you go.

If you are unlucky I feel for you same thing happend to me

2 throttle cleans

3 new throttle bodys

2 new complete pedal assemblies

50 of these :stirthepot:

Hope it all works out ok :nono:

Had my TPS replaced on my BA XR8. It was a 5sp manual supercharged, TSI computer.

the car did the rev thing a few times over a weeks period then one day the car idled like absolute crap and couldn't use the throttle, engine light was on.

Had it towed to ford and they replaced it under warranty, no problems.

So thanks Southside Ford in Brisbane, except for the 5km flog they took it for and scrapped the front end, also they dinted the tailgate most probably by pushing it.
