Some people will always be manual drivers and that's fine, but for those who move with the times, trannys like the ZF 6 sp are the way of the future. I have driven a manual and owned a 4sp auto BA and now have a 6sp auto BF and this is the best damm thing I have ever driven. One of the motor magazines did a full feature on its functionality which will blow you away and the motoring journos (who I reckon never run a good time anyway) suggest that the very best 6 speed manual driver car for car will never run as quick a time as this auto will. In first and second the auto6 feels like it pulls as hard down low as the APS stage 2 kit does in front of the old 4sp auto. Mind you, its a different story when the APS 2 kit hits 4000 rpm.

Id definitely go a manual. Straight line is one thing, real life is another.

Ask all those guys on this site who have written off their cars in the wet, due to an auto gearbox changing gears....well....automatically.

Nothing beats manual cars for real world performance, because you have a real, physical control of the car. You dont have that, even in manual mode in an auto. There is still a CPU at work in the background, doing things.

Ever wonder why every race car except some drag cars are manuals?

Two things I can say about autos:

1) 70% of HSV drivers drive autos - enough said on that.

2) If you have to ask whether you should get an auto or a manual, *always* get an auto....
