29/12/05 07:58 PM29/12/05 07:58 PM #1 I had my car in for the 75000 service this week and whilst it was there I asked them to look at the diff as it is making the whiny taxi diff noises. They informed me they are ordering some parts in and will be rebuilding my diff, not replacing it, as this is the practice once you are over 75,000 km. They informed me when the parts arrive they will need the car for 3 days whilst they rebuild the diff. This is going to cause me a few headaches so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this same scenario or have you had your diff completly replaced at over 75,000km? I would think a complete replacement would take a shorter time.
29/12/05 08:07 PM29/12/05 08:07 PM #2 I'm pretty sure 60,000km is the point where they start rebuilding things instead of using new items. Depends on exactly what it is of course.Edit: Now I think about it, it might be 45,000km because I remember just being under that when I had my trans replaced so I got a new trans instead of a rebuilt trans.
29/12/05 09:48 PM29/12/05 09:48 PM #3 Had 5 diffs replaced in total. 50,000k's is the mark for a rebuild onwards. They should supply you with a courtesy car at no charge as it is a warranty job. Don't get shafted. Make sure you also register what they are doing with 13Ford so you have recourse if you are not satisfied.I always ensured I had a coutesy car whenever warranty work was being done, there are no reasons why they should not supply you one when it's their product that's failed.

17/01/06 07:58 AM17/01/06 07:58 AM #6 Author Well got a big surprise today. Ford are going to replace my diff with a new one, they are no longer going to rebuild it. Dealer is waiting for the new diff to be sent up from Melbourne and then only one day to fit it not 4 days as was origninally quoted.Way to go ford

17/01/06 01:13 PM17/01/06 01:13 PM #8 Mine is going in for a rebuild.... mainly to fix a seal but they will investigate the noises aswell. I have done over 60000km
