vik u should realise that not everyone races to win, and "make the other guy run for the hills".. people race for fun, they dont care if the other car is quicker, they want to see how they would go against it.

its not as serious as some of you guys see it..

Jet, everyone races to win. They may not think they'll win but they hope they will. No one races hoping to lose.

I never get cars running me on the street. If winning wasn't an issue alot of cars would try to run me. I line up 200sx's, WRX's, HSV's, you name it none of them will run me. When I'm in other cars they'll all have a go. This is because no one wants to lose.

Geea. :kissmy:

yeh I see what u mean craig.. but the thing is alot of guys have said on the forum, "I tought the other guy a lesson" or whatever. coz they beat em. IMHO that sounds pretty stupid. people dont take it that seirously..

I get it not every single person is the same but alot of people race for the fun of it, which is more important than winning.. although nobody likes to lose.

anyway back on track, congrats to GEoMaNTiK.. dont be decieved by the old vl's, they bloody fly..

Im with ya man, up untill a few weeks ago I used to take the piss out of VLT's u know the whole omg ulleh its a vl turbo! but my mind has changed..I dind't post up about it coz its not somthing to be proud off but on springvale road I saw a rapid XR8 get absolutely slammed by a calais turbo...and yes the XR8 was trying alright..sence then I have been offerd a 5-speed man calais turbo fairly stock, just with boost controller and exhaust that's done 175,000km's for $4,500 (its a friend for work, his selling privately for about $7000. I am kinda considering it as im only 16 and I want to learn manual so bad but both my parants drive auto's, and its a car I could be proud of and mod up once more experienced. By the way a stock manual VLT does 1/4 in 14.8...simply by lifing the boost to 10PSi (stock is 7) it'll do low/flat 14's, and 14psi will see mid 13's. Once at 14psi some strenthening needs to be done if run at that for to long...never thought I would own a Expensive Daewoo but I will have a limited buget and its almost a very cheap version of a XR6T, somthing I dream of buying oneday (but yeah there is a lot of difference)

Man I can only imagine right now, I'm still adjusting to the balls I've recently got and they are big balls at that.  Driving a modded T would blow me away completely.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Only thing I could have done differently would have been to switch off traction control, switch off the air con, remove the spare tire and lastly kick my wife out (not that she is heavy).

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Man well done with your win. :beerchug:

But with balls that big I would'nt be kickin the wife out of anything. She might be able to help you out with that problem, more than the "T" will anyways :beerchug::stirthepot:

Remember one other thing the VL's have Nissan engines in them and we all know Nissan has been playing with forced induction for some time now.

cheers

Andy,

Never be ashamed of owning any kind of car when its your first. :beerchug: everyone needs to consider what they can afford. :stirthepot: and a VL is a pretty good starting point :beerchug:

As long as you stay true to the Blue Oval you will be drawn back to the light.

Only thing I could have done differently would have been to switch off traction control, switch off the air con, remove the spare tire and lastly kick my wife out (not that she is heavy).  I drove my T as hard as I possibly could and had no more to give even if I needed it, so yeah you could say I drove it like I stole it and loved it!

Drove it like you stole it?

Didn't load up to auto, T/C on, 5500 rpm shifts. I would hardly say that's driving it like you stole it.

Once I had 800k's up on mine I considered it fully run in and went into normal driving mode. I have heard a few people say that 80% of the running in happens in the first 100k's.

Don't be afraid to load up the auto or run it through to 6000 rpm. I think the A/C might disengage when you floor the thing anyways so proably no need to worry about turning that off. But yeah the things are not made of glass they love to be worked.

mine was side ways out of the yard and around the roundabout and 5 mins later the salesman rang me and reminded me of the break in procedure. My response I paid for it I will drive it like I please. O yeah my old vlt rb26/30 used to run in the 10's with 8" m/t's didnt change a thing only the rear tyres. It was by no means as refined as the xrt but there would be very few xrts that would come close to it for out right speed or acceleration. So its a case of how fast is your money.

hey andy, if you can get into the turb family at such a good price, I'd say go for it.

as long as the engine isn't too badly hammered, you would be picking up a steal.

so I might be looking over my shoulder for another Expensive Daewoo turbo contender and yeah macka's right, don't ever be ashamed of the car you own, especially a cult beast like the calais turbo!

Drove it like you stole it?

ok ok so I drove it like I just got it but the main reason I didn't try all these things is bcoz I didn't think I needed to, I had no respect for the VL T before the launch and was ready to destroy him. now I'm not so cocky and realise from everyones comments how good these VL's were and still are... so a stall up, no traction control and manual shift to 6K would have given me a harder edge, so I've still got a couple of tricks in the bag for next time.
