Fair enough - just another option for the punters.

Brightness - plenty of brightness for night time, I wouldnt want them too bright. If they get dim and need replacing, maybe blue ones will be the go.

Hey guys, here's my two cents worth.

I just got my switches done by Steve, put them in today.

Very nice job, the colour of the blue is not quite the same as the rest of the factory dash lights, but I doubt you'd ever get the exact LED's anyway.

I think they might be a touch brighter than everything else too, but maybe it's just cause I'm not used to it being there yet. I've included photos, so judge for yourself. Pardon the blur folks, I'm no photographer.

The verdict? They've got my vote! :censored:

I couldn't care if they're not the EXACT same colour as everything else. The brightness isn't overpowering either, it's only really noticeable if you're nit-picking.

Yeah the dash light is almost a purpley blue colour... the LEDs I use are basic blue. I think it's cos they dash is lit up by a tube kinda thing not individual lights.

These new LEDs do look a bit bright, I'll try a higher resistor and let you know how they go. At the moment they are 470 ohm, I'll crunch some numbers and see what I get.

Hey guys found some Blue SMT LED's from RS

LED's

There are 2 listed Part Numbers 466-3857 & 466-3885 - are the cheaper ones the right specs? Like the ones your using? Will they do?

I found the 470Ohm Resistors Part Number 421-8485

I have PM'ed AUMatt to see if he could do them I havent heard back yet but I bet he's busy being so close to Christmas - so with the instructions given in hand ( they are really good) - I might have a bash myself

There is still time  AUmatt

BTW where did the Solder wick come from - Jaycar?

You can get solder wick from anywhere like jaycar or tricky dickies...

Those LEDs should be fine but the ones I am using are made by Liteon... not sure where matt is getting them from but I'm pretty sure it's overseas and they are cheaper than the RS ones... but from what it looks like they will do (as long at they are about 2.8V and 20mA). The 8mcd ones aren't as bright as the second ones listed there, I am pretty sure the ones I'm using are brighter though... almost too bright I think.

Keep us posted on how you go scoot

Matt

Just thought I'd let you know that the switches that we wacked in the ute are illuminated whenever the igintion is on and not just with the lights on. Dont know if this is the way there set up or not....

Thought this might help with the new boards you have coming.

Doesnt worry me that there on as they draw bugger all power and you dont notice unless its dark and about to exit the car.
