Intercooler Pipe

hey all, one of the pipes going in to the intercooler comes off I had ford fix it and did it again car is now in the shop dont no how long for hope to get it back tomorrow. It makes a bit of noise between gear changes due to air escaping

anyone else had this problem

Depends on where this is happening!

Ford use some spring loaded clips on the intercooler connections, and for those of us running higher boost, they are at risk of coming off, so should be replaced with proper hose clamps.

Common issue, especially on the cars with bigger power. You just need bigger/better hose clamps and it will be fine.

Highly unlikely but possible.

More likely that it is the p1ss weak clip. When it comes off the first time, it may get traces of oil on it, which will make it easier to slip off the next time.

Better off to clean the inside of the pipe and fix it on with a proper hose clamp.

I heard someone say hair spray as a good lube to slip it on and then it dries sticky so holds well. As a last resort you could always run a bead weld around the pipe then use a decent bolt style clamp.

my mate was dynoing his skyline and the pipes all flew off twice on the same day dats after he did engine work and its all on camera.

mine flew off numerous times in one day... first tightened the clamp... then got new stronger clamp... then double clamped it and the fricken thing still flew off.... had to pull off front bar, modify intercooler outlet (thanks wog) and then fit all together again....

this happened after I got the wog tune put into the car

got her back today put it back together getting a hole new pipe goes on next week they seem to think the pipe is to short, clamp does not sit rite. I think got a new clamp today aswell we will see how this goes
