Don't take this the wrong way, but turn the TC off and learn to drive the car first.. I aint having a go, and it's a very good safety option to have, but don't rely on it.. You will get caught one day, several forum members have ended up in ditches on wet roads with the 'T', very easy car to get loose, especially in the wet. Once it hit's boost it's a snowball of tyrespin on wet roads..

As mentioned, wives ( or hubbies ) with no idea on how a car reacts in a situation is a bad idea..

It should be a backup, not a requirement imo.

I turn TC off in the wet. Sometimes I turn it off in the dry too if I feel like a bit of "fun".

To answer your question yes they can break traction in the dry under heavy throttle (as for the wet :banghead: )

I have found them to be an excellect car with no real bad points. The fuel usage is the only thing close to a bad point, but if I was that concerned I wouldn't have brought a T. (And that problem can be solved if you use your gears correctly)

I personally leave TC on full time (unless fun is called for)...

But that been said I don't rely on it to get me out of situations. I don't know about others but on mine the TC light flashes if I get too enthusiastic so I try to drive at most just below when the TC light would come on. If the TC light does come on I'll back off a little... (but I know of ppl whom would continue pushing their car whilst TC is trying to save their life, that is crazy as TC will only go so far...)

BTW I also have a rule when getting a new car that I'll take the car somewhere where there is nothing to hit and try to make the car lose it, that way I can feel how the car feels just before it slips... I have had a car (not the T) slip out on me a couple of times and each time I have gotten the car back under control (damn oil on road ) and I'm willing to put that down to the mucking around in the car getting it sideways when I first got the car...

I turn the TC off often, but the yellow warning light is arse about. It should be a differnt colour so that it marries in with the dash scheme. The yellow sucker sh!ts me to tears.

TC is funny, I always leave it on in the dry to stop me wasting my tyres, but turn it off in the wet for some fun. I have a 6sp but you can easily do major slides in the wet with TC on. If you accelerate out of a corner chances are you wont slide (or just a little) but if you drop the clutch when cornering (particuarly with low fuel) the ar$e end will go walkabouts no worries despite having TC on.

Sorry, some of us don't have much choice so we just have to learn to drive properly to compensate.

Mine is almost always off. The only time I leave it on is in the wet.

The extra power can catch you out fairly quickly in the wet, so TC on for an extra safety margin.
