macka, there have been NUMEROUS posts on here before by ppl getting upgrades done and their cat being the restriction around 250kw.. dont ask me to quote sum1 off the top of my head but I read quite a few posts about it over time.

I think anything over 260 with stock cat is really pushing it.. fair enough it may flow enough for 300atw, but put a bigger larger CFM flowing cat on and watch the gains!! :fool:

Yeh, and the majority of them are still running the factory IC and intake plumping. The very same cars you talk about are still lucky to make over 280 rwkw even with the bigger cats. I don't want to get into an argument. :spoton: But the facts are, there are more cars running around running using Nizpro and APS stage 1 kits that are making well over 270 rwkw with the standard exhaust than cars with all these you bute exhaust mods. It's been well documented by the above companies who carried out extensive R&D on the matter to prove the gains are very modest to say the least.

But at the end of the day if that's what you want to do go for it :spoton:

A Cat will alway be a restriction no matter on the same note an exhaust is also a restriction. I have high flow cats on my car and it still makes more power without it

Do you see cats on race cars or drag cars no cause they are a restriction

But if you are going to run no cats best you get your wastegate all modded up to handle it or you boost will go crazy

Yes, no cats on drag cars, but they are making more HP than average Street car.. Hence the cat will cause restriction.. but on an average street car, I believe the difference to be negligable with a good cat.. I have more things more restrictive than the cat holding back power, intake plumbing, intercooler etc..

ANd seeing as we're talking about street cars, not drag cars, it has to comply with emissions.

trust me ive considered the chop chop option but nah... my local ford dealers are just on the verge of being "difficult" as it is.. running no cat would piss them off sumthin shockin! no to mention the plods...

I couldnt give a toss about emissions.. but as it is im on borderline limits with the local cops and my ford service guys are a bit touchy.

trust me a 3' offcut of stainless seems a much cheaper option that a $400 cat... but pays to be safe I guess.
