Geea's Bad Day

Had a day with the boys at Heathcote today. Great day in the main. Adam's car was awesome and very consistant and Dave ran a new PB as did the other Adam. Company was great and so was the weather. My car however wasn't so good.

I had 4 runs all around 11.1-11.3. This was with race fuel and the car should have been running mid to high 10's. It felt sluggish and lethargic. I thought it was possible that I may have put the wrong tune in. It's along way to go to have your car not performing as you'd expext and the first time it's happened to me.

I had Nick (Dynowog), with me and we were talking about the car. He suggested that it might be a certain error code. When we got back Nick ran his scanner and discovered there was indeed a error code. It wasn't exactly the same as he thought it would be but very close. Hopefully Nick can give the details.

Nick told me that when that particular error code and others similar to it were activated that the car lessened the timing to protect itself. He said it would lose about 15% of its power. After some calculations this is about what my car was down. With race fuel I have about 385rwkw's and a best of 10.7 with my octane booster tune I have 330rwkw's and a best of 11.17. Today I ran 11.16 which means the car had about 330rwkw's which is about 15% down on 385.

I have noticed over the last week or so that the car hasn't quite felt right and this would explain it. Nick cleared the code and the car felt like it's old self. It went and sounded great again.

According to Nick he has seen a few cars with the same problem and more could have it and not be aware of it.

I hope this helps a few people. :spoton:

If you mean go racing today, I went cause I have a slight addiction to it and I wasn't aware the car had such a serious issue. If I hadn't gone I might not have found out about it at all.

Good one Graig, im glad it was the car and not you although I would get Nick to check and see if you have an error code as well. :spoton::glad:

Ummmm, how did Nick access the ECU error log? And how did he clear the error code?

Does he have access to a PDS/WDS?
