I guess if it's there for all to see in print too, we can't go far wrong - imagine the uproar if it was discovered that it did actually decrease power?! Even I doubt Ford would risk getting caught out like that. Okay, off to collect the car now, and thanks for all the comments/feedback guys!

Bain Member 827 Member For: 21y 6m 26d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 13/07/05 09:06 AM Posted 13/07/05 09:06 AM (edited) Well, after reading all the debate on the Ford reflashes, I came to the conclusion that it must be a good thing overall. I know I'll probably get shot down for saying that, but I'm sure/hope a few others will agree too. In fact, I've got enough confidence that it IS a good thing that I've just given permission to my Ford dealer to reflash the car today. My gawd, I hope I'm right!! I pick it up tonight and will let you know my thoughts, whether they be good or bad... :fingersx:<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It cant be too bad.. My car is a May 05 build and it runs a 14.1 down the 1/4 (a manual at that!).... It would have to have the 'dreaded reflash'Wheres the power loss? Edited 13/07/05 09:06 AM by Bain

It's not the most accurate instrument out there, but the Bugster seat-o'-the-pants dynometer reckons it's certainly no slower than before. To be honest, I find it very hard to tell if it's actually any quicker, but it does feel a little smoother. If anything, I guess it may have slightly better midrange urge above 2,000rpm when pushing down on the throttle a little without going far enough to coax it into dropping a gear (mine's an auto), but again I dunno that I would have noticed it if I wasn't looking hard for it.Obviously still too early to tell what sort of effect it might have on my fuel consumption, but I'll be keeping an eye on that. At the end of the day I think I'm happy to confirm that there really is nothing to fear with the reflash.

It is done in regard to a 'potential for overboost' where a protection system was cutting in too early and causing a hesitation between 3000-4000rpm."This was done to death a while back, and then it seems everyone thought it was actually OK. I certainly do as my 2005 build auto with latest firmware was 185.9rwkw which is very good for a stock auto.Stock Auto, Mark 1 were consistently pumping out 200RWKW with the Manual pumping around 220 RWKW when tested in Sydney Shotout mode6If your only seeing 185RWKW, I guess FORd have cut the power in the Flash then...
