Just because someone charges you less doesn't mean you get less. Some people are more honest than others.

I see it all the time, it depends on how badly they want the work and how good their name is.

If you have a couple of high profile achievements, business will boom and you can price the market to suit. I would do it. But just because it cost less doesn't mean you get less. I paid $400 for my custom tune and I got both 8psi and 10psi custom tuned to a ridiculously smooth and fat power curve. You couldn't make it any better and it didn't take very long (few hours each). And most of that time was spent wait for the box to upload.

R & D my arse. What do all the other tuners do then? Make a loss on every tune? I think not or it wouldn't be available. The capa box costs very little, there is a very big profit in that alone.

Don't always go the cheapest, but then the most expensive is not always the answer either.

Go where you personally feel comfortable with the people you are dealing with, this may be not only from a tuning and knowledge perspective, but also customer service.

My understanding is that there is not really a lot of profit for the tuners, and most of the money goes to CAPA.

Over the last 4 months a number of the tuners have reduced prices to build up expertise whilst they are in "learning mode".

It does take time to understand the product, and tuning variances are required for items such as the different injectors that guys are using, and variances due to valve spring issues. Call this R&D.

There is no such thing as an automatic understanding of the product.

At this stage Nizpro have been tuning the Edit for longer than the others.

Whether or not that justifies paying a bit extra for the tune is an individual decision.

Just because Nizpro charge more surely doesn't mean they give you more.

I can tell you HPF won't let your car out of their workshop until they're 100% satisfied that YOU'LL be satisfied.

And for the amount of work they've done on half the cars on this forum I think they know what they're talking about. The 2 fastest XR6T's around and we all know it.
