Help! Injector Covered In Oil-what's It Mean?

As ZAP has suggested,get a comp test done followed by a leak down test.This will clarify whether or not you have an engine problem.

Sorry to be ignorant, but what's involved in getting a comp test done?

What size do you gap the spark plugs to? and at what horsepower level are you all doing this?

once edited, circa 250rwkw running more boost.

Any other comments fellas on the potential issue or even if its worth woryying over?

Yes it is a Ford issue, but Ford tend to say its "normal" unless you press them.

Getting a Compression test and leak down test should be about $100. This will give you ammo when you go to Ford and say I have this problem and a real mechanic said the motor is F'ed, now fix it.

You might find a lot less pain dealing with your local mechanic than batteling Ford 10x to get this sorted.

No 4 cylinder you say ... hmmm, head gasket. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but this is what I'd suspect knowing the past history of these motors. Straight to Mr Ford and whinge long and hard 'till you get it resolved. There should be absolutely NO wet oil deposit on any plug.

Don't go for the razor blades just yet - it's not that much of a drama. Just put the standard edit back in and remove all evidence of it, (like HPF stickers on the back windscreen ) and go along to Ford with your oily story ... if they ask why you had the plugs out tell them a mate suggested it would run better at a lower gap setting and act all innocent ...
