Guest Phantom Guests Posted 27/04/03 03:47 AM Share Posted 27/04/03 03:47 AM oz utester I agree with most of what you said there about our crap roads etc. but have to disagree with the driver attitudes. I think you may have been unlucky to have copped a couple of dickheads because my experience is Melbourne drivers are generally more agressive.I don't want to start the old Sydney vs Melbourne debate but.... The unwritten rule in sydney is to merge two lanes with a one car from each lane taking turns, the other instance is when a lane ends the car behind you allows you to come into his lane.It seems to me the unwritten rule in Melbourne is to flatten it and cut the other guy off and leave him stranded. It has happened to me so many times down there that it can't be coincidence. Once when I did manage to get in front of one guy he was so pissed off he wanted to get out of the car and get stuck into it. Fast but corteous. If drivers in LA were like in Melbourne the road system would be anarchy. I must say the cabbies are better up there, it was like 17.05 for the trip and he gave back the 5 cents, in melb he would have rounded it up to $20.00 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1799-just-returned-from-sydney/#findComment-19171 Share on other sites

Guest Xr6Tas Guests Posted 27/04/03 07:55 AM Share Posted 27/04/03 07:55 AM If you want to see some sedate friendly driving comes down to Tassie for the weekend. The most easy going driving experience in the world without a doubt (until you get out onto the twisty east and west coast roads on your own that is :D ).With our small population, and everything being in such close proximity, it is very rare to see any kind of road rage whatsoever. Even blowing your horn (unless it's for a completely useful purpose) will make you seem like a total wa*ker. You can actually half go to sleep while driving around Hobart’s CBD (which incidentally takes less than 2 minutes to get through) and come out fine at the other end Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1799-just-returned-from-sydney/#findComment-19188 Share on other sites

So long as you give them the 'THANKS MATE!' wave, everything is sweet..............hehehe Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1799-just-returned-from-sydney/#findComment-19192 Share on other sites
