Maximum Power For T56

That would explain why my clutch may be on its limits then, I have 256rwkw at 5000rpm, and I'd say its just starting to let go at 4000rpm in 3rd, or is that axel tramp? Cause the wheels weren't spinning and something was shuddering slightly and the revs were rising faster than the car was accelarating for a split second.

Is yours a phase 2 kit only??... or do you other mods as well??

Nah , I have other mods as well. I went for a customized job instead of a phase 3 kit

This question is a very tough one, As you know Mal Wood Auto has done a huge amount of development with Tremec Transmissions and these transmissions continue to astound both Ben and Myself with the amount of HP or KW that these will take.

I will give you firstly a comparison between the Late model camira T56 and the ford T56.

The Tremec t56 as used in the Late model camira has ratios of 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.74,.50. It runs a 26 spline input shaft and a 27 spline output shaft.

The T56 as used in the XR6T has ratios of 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.80,.62. It runs a 23 spline input shaft and a 31 spline output shaft.

We have a Transmission running the same ratios as the Ford in a vehicle used in competition with 1022 engine HP and it is handling it ok.

BCL's transmission was prepared and fitted by us about 12 months ago it has the same ratios as the new Ford.

The bottom line is I very much doubt if a Turbo Ford 6, even a highly modified one would break one of these transmissions.

The only damage that seems to have occured in some cars is directly contributed to clutch issues, ie the clutch not releasing properly or clutch drag.

I have extensively tested our 11'' steel flywheel and 11'' single plate clutch and it has proven to the best option( in my opinion) for the Turbo 6 with a T56 transmission, we have had these in cars with in excess of 300rwkw.

We have also developed 2 twin plate combinations for serious road/race application. Mal Wood

What about your 11 inch clutch and flywheel - what kind of ballpark price are you looking at for the items? (I am in NZ so would install myself).

My ute has 253rwkw,3.73 diff ratio,t56 6 speed and I drive it VERY hard ,it is the only way that we can test our products. The Steel flywheel and 11'' single plate clutch is our own design, we have had this clutch in cars with 390 rwkw and still going strong. Our clutch kits are continually being tested for overall performance, our option 1 flywheel and clutch kit to suit the turbo 6 costs $1250.

We are fitting and testing our latest unit next week, I will post the results after testing. Mal Wood
