So I thought a separate thread for this wouldn't be bad. Here's my take on it.A custom built car made to the buyer's preferences. As a base car it should have performance as it's first priority and therefore be built as light as possible so I'm suggesting a Forte platform. A supercharged 5.4L pushing around 360kW and around 600Nm. Very achievable without too much stress and therefore quite reliable - just what Ford would have to do for the (semi) mass market. The same T56 that is now in the GT would just manage the torque nicely. A diff ratio of 3.91. Brembos. 18" 5-spoke mags and the GT body kit. The only interior HO item (different to the Forte interior) to be the steering wheel. This package could sell at $65,000. A slight premium over the standard GT now but the bias totally towards performance not luxo features. Then the customising begins - all the usual options and accessory items available should be offered at a price. Premium sound tick. Climate Control A/C tick. Leather tick. Sat Nav tick. etc etc. Each customer spends as much as he wants on his individual car. The most expensive car a customer could build would still come in at less than $90,000. Be a GTS killer for sure.Put me down for the $65,000 jobbie right now please Mr Ford - they'd sell better than hotcakes I reckon.

A car with GTS beating power and equipment levels would for sure sell like hotcakes but if ford were to ever to do this car it would have to be something really special. I would hate to see them stuff up some a legend by going all cheap and weak on the thing

Unique GT-HO badging, 351 badging and stripes only to suit the HO. The engine should be a stroked and edited 5.4L V8 producing 351kw (351 to resemble the old 351 engines) and 600nm of torque with a violent kick to it. Quarter mile times need to be high 12's. Quad exhaust with a beautiful unforgettable note. Low and tough adjustable suspension. The interior similar to the GT-P's with of course GT-HO badging and 351 badging. The same T-56 gearbox but improved ratios to run with the engine. Bolstered leather seats that support you around a track at high speeds. Only 2 seats in the rear which again are bolstered. There should only be a limited number made e.g 351All hand made and the highest quality.Pricing should be around the $90000 area. Options should include staged performance levels eg stage 1 370kw, stage 2 390kw, superchargers etc. MMMMM my dream car.

Suspension would be setup to specs beyond the shocks and springs used in the GT to include upgraded bushes and swaybars to complement the stiffer springs and shocks, as well as 19 inch wheels with 285's on the back for increased traction. Brakes should be Brembo callipers with the biggest size cross drilled and slotted rotors that will fit behind the wheels. Diff ratios should be 3.7 standard with optional 4.1's. Engine should be a blown 5.4 with around 350 kw and 600nm of torque. Manuals and autos should both be 6 speeds with the F6's twin plate clutch for the T56 and the strongest ZF 6 speed auto in the range. Exhaust should be twin all the way to quad tips out the back, and the aero package should be a bit more aggressive. Seats should be lightweight but still have plenty of soft leather cushioning to hold you firmly in place. Bonnet buldge should be vented. Tyres should be the best available at the time and price should be around $90,000, despite the fact we would all want it cheaper. Le mans stripes over the top of the bonnet, roof and bootlid ala Ford GT40 should also be included. Edited 11/05/05 07:23 AM by Venom XR6

People are getting that at the wheels at the moment with SCT edited BA GT (hmmmm....edited GTHO anyone! ).If Ford were to make a modern day GTHO it would need to be along the lines of the HRT427. Let the racers have their stripped out version and let others who want comfort and speed select whatever extra options they want.Jetmir - Ford will not say for sure when or if they will build an GTHO, it's rumour and innuendo only at this stage.
