Hey lumpy:

-"All necessary infrastructure to be built and paid for by the developers".

Why?

Isnt that what councils are for?. Why do councils have infrastructure budgets when they make all developers pay anyway?

Now come on mate I am asking the tough questions in case your elected. Its good practice!

You aslo have to get rid of stupid devleopment rules if tyou want to get business going in your shire liek all other councils.

I think Lumpy is too honest and straightforward to be a politician.

Good luck lumpy and why did you not tell me this yesturday when you called in.

Ian, basically I completely forgot :spoton: I was away from the place for a while and just enjoying the drive :spoton:

Its been battle stations today, a few (four) people who said they'd hand out how to votes for me decided to move to Brisbane instead, so now I only have Maclan-Yamba-Ulmarra covered, not the much larger area of Grafton :spoton:

How-to-Votes are done, getting the posters finalised now :spoton: Election tomorrow...

Thank you all very much for your encouragement, at the very least this has been a steep learning curve, but it really IS what I am interested in so it's all been worthwhile...

Cheers for now,

Lumpy

OK Dallas,

Perhaps some of the grammer and phrasing is wrong in that so I will have another crack at it for you? (Please be easy on me)

All nessecary infrastructure expenses to be shared reasonably between council and the developer, all excess infrastructure to be the developers expense.

What was happening here was that developers were demanding X be built here NOW, regardless of whether A/It was needed at the time and B/Whether they planned to use it in the future.

The often got council to build a road into an estate (fair enough) but then demanded that sealed road of racetrack quality was built WAAAAAAY over yonder where they wouldn't use it for perhaps years, all the while real 'Council' infrastructure was being undermined and poorly maintained. Roads falling apart, only 17 days water storage, sewrage system overburdened as it is.

I believe that nessecary infrastructure costs should be shared between developer AND council as it is not like the developer is out there merely to break even, there should put a bit (over and above what they put into sub-division etc) into the long-term effects for what they get out.

But that's just little ol egalitarian me again...

All the best Brenda. If anyone would make a good pollie it would be you.

If I was in your local council area you would definitely get my vote even if there was no existing connection with the likes of this forum, you’re a level headed decent bloke – and that’s what all levels of government need.

Next stop……Kirribilly House!

Trent.
