Just a report card from AIR tonight. Some good things happening with the Edit.

Badxr6 with 12.3 and 121mph. Who knows how fast a manual can go?

Boost6 only three runs for the night (had to go home to mum) but walks one over the line with 11.9

Shifty. Never really raced before, in a dead stock car save for some injectors pumps out 12.9 @ 112

The 'dealer' car a 5 speed XR8 with the cheapest non-intercooled Vortech with 12.7 @ 115 on genuine road tyres

'Brutus' running nearly 111mph in a manual GT with just an exhaust

Pretty good for some first timers! while others just plugged away. There are going to be some fast cars here VERY shortly

Martin they are some nice numbers. But I think to give everyone a true indication of the edit they need to be put in context. Before I go any further remember that I like the edit and will probably have HPF (my tuner), install it in my car sometime in the future.

Boost6 has only gained 0.03 of a second and no rwkw's.

When my old car had the same mods as shifty with the addition of no centre muffler it ran 12.8@112. with the same mods and the cat made more free flowing it got to as low as 12.2@116 I think.

I'm in noway putting down Boost6 or Shifty. I think they have done fantastically and I applaud them for being at the forefront of the edit development and making the path easier for those that will follow.

These 2 examples wouldn't be encouraging people too much. I was impressed with Bruce gaining 6mph. That is a big gain. I think the launch control may need alittle refining though.

While I agree that the edit is a fine product it still has a long way to go development wise. 12 months down the track I believe that we will be seeing some great numbers and times but at this stage the results are only average. When tuners have had alot more hours actually tuning cars I think we will see times fall a great deal.

I'll repeat that I'm not critising or putting anything down just putting things in perspective.

Thanks shifty. that's the sort of feed back that guys contemplating mods need.

There are quite a few guys with idling and stalling issues. If the edit rectifies these it could be the answer to there problems. The edit benefits could be a 2 or 3 step process I feel. Sorting engine issues such as these will probably happen straight away, as will changing some parameters to suit individual mods and preferences.

I also think that the initial tunes be they custom or generic will not be the best we see from the edit. I think that as tuners tune more cars and learn from each one that the edit cars will get quicker and more powerful.

I hope so any way. HPF have it and I've told Rob that if he gives me another 30-40rwkw's and an extra 500rpm, that on a cold winters night I'll go very close to running 10's on street tyres.

Good words Geea, but remember that ALL of the guys above have only had a few runs down the strip. They haven't been fanatical about it.

I would be very sure if Boost6 gave me his car for a week, and I mucked with the converter and ran decent fuel in it that 11.4 would be a very simple accomplishment on street tyres, and 10s a formality on slicks.

These guys have very little true development under their belt, BUT they dont stall, can rev the engine, and can even start in two cranks of the key. Not having a go, just pointing out facts.

Hi martin, will you be doing any hands on work with HPF or will they be self educating?

Is there alot to be gained with a modded auto such as mine by changing the auto parameters? Would you think that I would be able to launch the car harder, with more early boost?

HPF understand the training requirement as part of the their Flash tuner agreement. For more info on this it would be best to ask Marty or Rob.

That is some great results guys well done  One question on the Edit is how much of a shift pattern can you get out of it?

I agree that there is always room for improvement with any product.

But in this case, the improvement will come with how it is used, not the actual edit itself.

I think the edit is brilliant because it finally gives the tuner full scope to actually do what he wants. Fitting it to my ute was a last minute idea ( was done 3 hours before the meeting ) & I wasn't chasing more power - just a clean idle, & a nicer torque curve. For the small amount of tuning done I am wrapped with the result.

The car starts instantly, idles smoothly, changes gears cleaner, & just generally feels much happier to suck fuel & air in & pump it out the back mixed with tyre smoke!!! Of course, I was pleased to creep it into the 11s, but even though I agree with Martin about the potential of this ute, I would rather leave it as it is -

It is supposed to be the tow car for my race car which is being neglected.

Next time the ute is at the track, hopefully it will be towing my GTR.

Running high 11s is fun & all, but I'd rather be driving the ute on the street & running 9s in the Skyline.

As far as bruce's car goes - holy sheeet. I LOVE it. That thing is awesome fun to cruise in. My auto might be a bit faster down the strip for now, but I know witch one I'd rather be driving around the rest of the time!!!
