Shouldn't make much difference in a standard T as you would have to tune the car for it.

Elf and Martini make good fuels but are pricey

I used to sometimes run BP Leaded Race fuel in my old Honda. It has an octane (RON) of 115, and 0.96g of lead per litre....good old fuel as it used to be! (Ane not exactly environmentally friendly...).

The difference was very noticeable, and this was in a carby car where no adjustments were made.

The engine made easily as much power at 2900rpm as it used to at 3500rpm where powerband used to kick on.

I would expect it would have an impact on a T without tuning. Perhaps not as good as could be done with tuning, but you have to remember the T can run on various fuels (unleaded and premium unleaded) and the ECU will realise the different fuel and ajust things to suit. Im sure up hills and in heat the higher octane would help too.

While 102 might be higher on the spectrum than the 92 to 98 jump from unleaded to premium, its not that far outside the range.

But then again a mate put it in his old alfa romeo spyder (also carby) and it ran like crap - seemed to be running very rich.

A leaded fuel will kill your BA, XR(-T) cat.

Using a leaded fuel in an unleaded (fitted with a cat) car is illegal. (It kills the cat.)

Fuels such as Optimax have a hi octane which enables the engine to tune itself to use the fuel in a more efficient manner by running a higher boost or advance. These fuels also have more energy per unit volume.

A dead cat will not aid your power production - unless you remove it from the gas stream and doing that may do something strange to the T.

I don't know - you need to speak to the tuners about that.

Piston engined aircraft used 100/130 octane! and may still do so.

2kws is about 1%. For a similar performace gain and an improvement in braking and lateral G's and for no money, dump some weight from the car, like the spare wheel.

Hes dead right. For the improvement this fuel would make, you might as well just try and remove a few things from the boot, and if you are desperate the rear seat (for the drags of course). If you cut away 50 odd kg's the overall improvement in performance would be far greater than from this fuel.

Umm...I hope you dont think I was saying to use BP Leaded racing fuel in a T? As I clearly stated, I used it in an old Honda.
