Hi all,

I am looking at doing a phase 1 conversion next year and am wondering what are the good and bad points of the system. I cant afford phase 2 and like the 300 kw option.

I have put on a 75mm exhaust, SS inductions kit and throttle body as well as K+Ns and would like top finish off with a Phase one.

I am in NZ and its pretty new here and I dont think there are any dealers specialising in the phase 1 but there will be a few soon so your imput would be really helpful.

surely some of the guys running phase 1 can answer this question :buttonit:

most people have praised the system.... and from what I can gather the power is addictive... and most have moved onto phase 2 or 3.

OK ..ok..

At present I have phaseII... But I started at phase I

The goods are..

better idle

more consistant power/torque

No throttle shutdowns..similar to overboost but the accelerater pedal goes dead. You have to lift of the acc pedal and then reapply it

better fuel economy

better throttle response..

In a nut shell mostly positives..

The negatives...

Phase I for me was not enough..so Phase II went in..

My only advice is you will get the bug and want more...think about it for a while. as saving up for a little long will get you Phase II..

Perhaps Gavin, being in NZ and not having APS dealers around, you might be best to consider the SCT Edit or CAPA edit (whateverit is). I think you'd get very similar results (in the package tune), for very similar money, but you can flash your car yourself  ........and that's got to be a positive thing.

..........Just a thought.

I have the Phase 1 (less injectors) and it made the car a lot smoother under full throttle. The car felt and was noticably faster, without being a full weapon like the phase 2>

The fuel economy also inproved from 13lt/100km to 11.7km/100 with the unichip.

I have now removed it due to "issues" with Ford and I hate the surging that has come back. I think I will need to install it again this weekend.

Thanks for that. I will think about it for a while and I probably would get the bug. Sounds a pretty good set up overall. Not sure if I want to spend the money to get to phase 2 but will think about it. <_<

Good point forgot about the so called edit. I have heard some mention that they doubt the edit will happen but its something to consider. :spoton:

Fuel ecomomy is interesting. If anything you wouldnt think that the chip would fix other engine related issues. Ford obviously need a new software guy when it comes to computers if they cant fix these problems inhouse.
