Featured Replies

SOmeone did a test a while back (might of been BP) comapring the various 98RON fuels in a XR6T and found Ultimate to be the best. Could of been biased if BP was doing it though.  :glad:

The only 98RON within cooee of me is Optimax so I use that whenever possible.

I heard the cleaner in Vortex is very good. I don't know if the 98 is worth it though. How much more per litre is it, compared to the ordinary Vortex (which is 7c a litre more than standard ULP)?

Especially in QLD where we get 96 RON Vortex instead of the 95 RON it is down South (why is that?). Seems it would need to be not much higher in price, as it's only 2 more RON.

In NQ we only have a choice of BP Ultimate or 95 octane. BP is the refiner in queensland though and supplies shell with its optimax. Wouldnt think they would give shell the best of their product.

You have to find a servo with a high turnover(the 98 octane shelf life is short)preferably with fibreglass tanks. Certainly nothing using the old breather pipes as your octane is going out the pipes

Actually Caltex have a Refinery in QLD as well. They are both opposite each other on the Brisbane river.

I run Optimax, had to put some BP in it during the lean time last month and dropped power Big time :spit: also produced a lot of black smoke. Then I tried the Mobil 8000 and power went back up, so I would have to give the :crybaby: to either Optimax or Synergy 8000.. This is in Sydney I know it can change from state to state depending.

Get them to send some Vortex98 over here to Adelaide, and I'll gladly oblige!
