December 4, 200421 yr #1 Hi all,Instead of eating Bacon and Eggs this morning, I broke out the trust soldering iron and installed a electric Shift kit form http://www.shiftkits.com.au/ShiftKitsFord.aspxI got the single stage, which I think is the only one they sell at the moment?Instructions are pretty easy, three wires to join/slpice, I ran mine out the LHS footweel hole instead of the "clutch cable grommet", less noticable and the wires come out right near the ECU which is where you want them.I havnt been down the strip yet, but you can feel the shifts are much firmer than before(or when switched off), it will "chirp" into second on hotmix.I have only tried it in Auto mode, not performance mode but shift are much faster and stronger, it is a little annoying around town when going really slow, I was in a car park and car was going from first to second and back again, and it was jerking when it shifted, but flick of the switch and its back to normal.when just driving without flogging it, it is hard to tell its on, but put your foot down and you know its there.I like it, I will report when I have been down the strip if it makes any difference there, for $70. shipped and about half an hour to installI think its good value.
December 4, 200421 yr #2 What power figures do you run now Eugene? and did you come to the Gold Coast to have your exede fitted? cause you said thanks to Steff. B.B.
December 5, 200421 yr #4 Well done Chris....is there any other mods on it.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Chris is at the Creek. He will have similar mods to Boof and many others in the next few days. Glad you like the kit Chris, me and Deano both liked it even though both our auto's are dead. :o It wasn't the shift kit though I think it was more the excessive power our cars have. Geea.
December 5, 200421 yr #5 Author What power figures do you run now Eugene? and did you come to the Gold Coast to have your exede fitted? cause you said thanks to Steff. B.B. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Bazza,No I didnt go to Brisvagas to have the xede fitted, I DID IT MYSELF, pretty happy with myself too, took about 2 hours, not to tough really, worst part is keeping the wiring tidy as there is abit going on down there by the time your finished.I also had the shiftkit in there so there is another harness and wires to keep out of the way.I got hold of some of the harness wrap as used by ford and put all harness's in it befor I started, all the way from the cabin out it is wraped like the factory wiring.Out where it goes into the factory harness, I have it on the inside under the ECU, so unless you really look for it, you wont see it, and if you do see it, it looks factory. I thanked Stef because I got my xede of Macka, in a round a bout kind of way, I was unsure if the tune in it, or what hardware it had, I called Chiptorque, spoke to Stef, he said to ship it up, they updated it to the latest hardware and software for me, inluded a new long harness so I could do an in cab install, and put in a base tune so my car would run and be safe intil I can get to a tuner to have it done.Great service from Chiptorque , I can not recommend them Highly enough.I have spoken to Stef on several occasions and each time he has the answers I need and is only too glad to help. The cost you ask for the Software/hardware upgrade, FREEIt cost me $85 for the harness and $10 for shipping, sent it Friday, got it back the next Wednesday.I dont know what it is making, but it is heaps stronger in the mid range and top end. I am not holding flat because I dont know the AFR, so I am trying to be kind to it, but from 2400-5000 it really pulls, so much better than standard it isn't funny. It will actually spin the tires on dry tarmac from a standing start, has never done that before.I am starting to love the HP
