And if so, is it just a standard type thread? I am looking at an aftermarket nob for my car when it gets here.

I have it booked in on Tuesday to have it looked at. I am looking forward to getting a new knob that is quieter. It also gets bloody hot in the sun!

I would hate to twist to hard and bust the stick or something stupid like that! The one we did yesterday came off no worries. We did unbolt the stick and put it in a vice, though.

That would be the metal insert that holds the boot rattling on the stick. I popped the boot and put a rubber 'O' ring between the two. Worked well.
