Hello everyone!!!!

I really need your help everyone.

My name is Michael and I have a xr6turbo which I picked up in May last year. However I am in a wheelchair and I am finding it very difficult to get in and out of the turbo these days as I find it hard to slide across but find it easier to stand up and get in. I have test driven the new territories and am very interested in these.

The problem is I went around and did all the shopping and I already have a loan out on my turbo through my family and can't really afford to borrow too much more.

I was quoted $12228 changeover on my car on a new territory ghia. I require the ghia because I have very arthritic hands and so the less things I have to manually change such as seat positions and so on the better. This price is out of my league as I will find myself paying off the car for the rest of my life.

As much as I love the turbo and don't want to get rid of it I really need to get rid of it.

I was wondering if anyone knew how much a car like mind would be worth to sell privately. It has 40000kms on the clock and has satellite navigation and a dvd player in the back which were all gifts to me for my birthday last year. They are genuine ford parts though.

I have been quoted a new Territory Ghia at $46500 which doesn't include tax because I am exempt due to my disability and would like to know how much my car would be worth privately and how close it would be to the above figure!!!

I live in Brisbane if that makes any difference. '

If anyone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated.

I think the best price one of the members has been offered is 31k for a trade (through ford)... I could be wrong.... you should see if you can get the sat nav and the dvd out of the car and sell them seperately (maybe on this site) as these will add no value to your trade in. And at a good price members here would snap them up and you would make a dollar or two.

I think your changeover seems reasonable.... but you can still make extra bucks by selling your goodies seperately

The changeover price they offered is pretty good, around $34.2k trade for your car is good.

If you were to sell private then you may get $37-38k to the right buyer if your patient. l agree with Jetute about removing the SatNav & DVD player, they would be worth more seperately and may even go straight into the Territory.

I'm new to this site, but have you seen the valuation areas of Drive and Carpoint? Drive lists the value of a 2003 auto sedan that has travelled 33,000 kms as:

$33390-40810 private sale

$31300-37100 trade in value

$43700-52440 dealer price

And a 2003 manual as:

$32760-40040 private sale

$30800-36400 trade in value

$42800-51360 dealer price

These are based on the Glass's Guide and obviously wouldn’t include options such as sat nav/DVD. Your change over seems within the trade in values. I have previously taken figures from these sites when trading cars and have always been able to achieve better then the figures quoted due to vehicle condition etc. There are several mentions on this site however about relatively poor T private sale prices.

The satellite navigation system is a ford factory option and cannot be taken out of the car. It comes up on the screen on the dash.

Maybe it is just out of my reach and I will have to stick with the turbo.

Local Ford dealer here in Canberra are advertising new 2004 model XR6Ts from $39990 so I would say you'd be lucky to get low $30Ks for it. Options such as SatNav only seem to count when you are buying the car in the first place, even selling privately they don't really seem to add much if any value. They might just make the car easier to sell iof someone wants that particualr option.

Have you thought about getting a Territory TS??

They are pretty closely optioned to the Ghia except for some minor things plus they are about $44,000 less tax for yourself.

So it would probarly be a change over figure of about $7,000.

Good call, they have just started manufacturing the TS Tertiary, sorry, Territory, so they will start to filter through at the end of August. They have climate control (as far as the brainy salesman can tell me), so you could option SatNav easy enough.
