The other day whilst driving, I had a momentary loss of some power..........but it was such that the SSS (in auto mode) seemed to be lost for gears and as to what gear to be in and hence the loss of some power.........this lasted for about 3 seconds and once I stepped up to accelorate again, the gears seemed to adjust and power was regained......

This never happened before and I have not had it happen again since.......

Now I have always driven manual and this is the first car I have with auto/SSS...

Is this common in auto and can anyone please offer any advice.?

The car is 3 weeks young and clicked nearly 1500kms already.......

Should I mention this to Ford at my 3000km service as I'm hesitant that they might stuff it up further if there is no problem especially since it has not happened again.

Like to have the forums view on this......

thanks heaps people

Thanks for the response but I'm tempted to wait until it happens again.........

I was low in petrol with maybe 4 or 5 litres left in the tank.......maybe that had something to do with it......

however, since it has not happened again and I've driven it for almost another 100 kms,

I might just wait until the next itme it happens......

So far my Blue baby is purring and no other problems......keep fingures crossed......especially compared with some other posts recently.....

There seems to be a lot of hiccups that these cars go through.

My car has stalled once, never happened again.

My car has gone into limp home mode once, never happened again.

If you can replicate the problem, sure, take it back. But intil you can, go grab a beer and relax!

Dutchie,

Unless it is a major concern (I.e. it happens again) don't even mention it in ear shot of the dealer. Otherwise you will get it back with rubbing parkbrakes and a complimentary diff whine!

Seriously though it could be anything but if it happens again then it certainly ain't normal, the auto in the T is usually great. Keep an eye on your passenger as well - one of my brothers favourite tricks is to slip it into N when you aren't looking - not funny at all.

I had a similar problem once too, it was a one off too. I once started my car and it was sputtering terribly (it was already warm), I pulled over and restarted - voila, no problem. Never had it occur since. :w00t2: Ive done 6000km.

Dutchie,

I have had this happen to me 3 times. Does is happen when you accelerating? Then you have no power for a couple of seconds, the engine makes a funny loud purring noise then it takes off again after you take your foot off the pedal and re apply it. I don't know what this is. Either do Ford. I thought this could be Valve Spring Flutter. Mines done 13K. It started about 6K. Very intermittent. Of course Ford say your car is displaying no error codes :w00t2:

Very Frustrating....any thoughts anyone?

Cheers,

Greg

Dutchie, when I was at a track day and I only had a little bit of fuel left my engine kept cutting out as well.

I assume it's from the petrol moving around in the tank and not being able to get sucked up by the fuel pump...

With similar intermittent concerns, I sent an email to my Service Adviser which contained the following:

"Check and clear fault codes in addition to ensuring that the engine management system is OK, which includes:

· Check that “C” connectors on original PCM are plugged in correctly.

· Check that wastegate control solenoid is connected securely.

· Check for sticky swing valve in turbo housing.

· Check that the bleed solenoid is not partially blocked.

· Check “OC” valve sensors that go into cam caps.

· Check vacuum lines.

· Check ALL hosing and connections.

· Check and/or clean and/or replace throttle body.

Please ensure that all these checks are made. On pickup of the vehicle, please provide in WRITING an assurance that all the above checks have been made, including mention of any replacements."

I know this is a shotgun approach though.. *touch wood* ..since then I have not experienced any more intermittent gremlins. Hope this helps in some way. :msm:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :crybaby:
