July 11, 200422 yr #1 My auto's finally had it. I went for a drive yesterday and noticed the gear change from 2nd to third was slipping/surging a little more than normal. Since then it's got worse and worse and now even under light throttle it'll slip and clunk into gear.Has anyone had a similar problem and do they know how much it'll cost me to fix. Or maybe even a price to put a T5 manual in the car with a heavy duty clutch.I'm trying to keep my options open as I have a very very low budget at the moment.Any help would be appreciatedTRBO 6
July 11, 200422 yr #2 To rebuild the auto to standard will be around $1800-2000, a modified auto will start from around $2.5K. If there is metal through the fluid you may have to reco the torque converter too, add $300 to 500 for this.Since you have an APS stage II, I would be looking at options for upgrading the trans. Don't rebuild it as standard as your problem may happen again.Where are you located?Mick Edited July 11, 200422 yr by Big Mick

July 11, 200422 yr #4 I'm in Melbourne and had mine modified by a workshop in Dandenong. Here is a quote from my mod thread.Kewish Automotive97932220Remove Automatic TransmissionModify Valve BodyModify Pump Regulator ValveReset Clutches - Band Replace (Hi-Torque)Fit Large CoolerAssemble and Top up with Oil.Total inc GST $1690.00If yours has had it there would be more work, as Mick has said, to bring it back to a good condition. This I asume would cost extra.I'm very happy with it and it hasn't shown any signs of not coping with the power. I believe that if you are interstate that they will share their knowledge with interstate auto workshops.Geea.
July 11, 200422 yr #5 Im in the same boat, although my auto is holding together for the moment, It's a matter of time though.Nizpro offer a rebuild to handle 800nm for about 2500. They are in melbourne.
July 11, 200422 yr #6 Author I'm in Sydney. Got a friend who builds converters and hopefully he can put me onto someone who can fix it properly. I've spoken to a few people today and found out that it could just be a blown solenoid or a band slipping. Either way I can see it costing me a couple of grand.Going to get it checked out tomorrow, untill then I'll just have to take it easy. Might even try my luck with ford. TRBO 6

July 12, 200422 yr #8 Mine just cost me $4100. FInally got finished today after 3 weeks! The box has had alot of work done to it, dunno full deatils yet. I know the whole front pump which I shatterd cost over a grand and had to be taken off the ford production line! Anyway, he didnt give me any NM figures as such but said it would easily take 1000hp(claimed) with no problems! and comes with a 3 year garrentee apparently! I havent got my car back yet as I have to travel 600km to go get it, so for now it sits in their workshop until I can organise it to get home. :(
