Its funny that the other T owners here get told either the driveline shunt is normal or they just get the diff replaced and get the same problem + the get the new optional whine. Yet when a FPV owner complains about the same problem they fly a specialist out to check it out.

When this "specialist" comes out to look at the car, ask him what is going to be done about the other 50+ people on this forum that have had the same problem for years.

It would be nice to know if Ford are offering 2 levels of service and warranty to its clients :crybaby:

great to hear the direction of Ford's response is positive .... hope it continues

(and yeah ... the shunt can be bad ... I'd accept it in the Falcons but not the GT)

good luck Simon :crybaby:

not acceptable in a falcon or a gt... not in this day and age :kissmy:

I too am keen to hear what happens when this specialist checks out the gt :spoton:

It's not the diff.

You guys were all warned about driveline clunk in the TR3650 gearbox before you bought the GTs and XR8s.

It has been inherent in ALL TR3650 gearboxes since the AU T3 to some extent, some worse than others - it hasn't been a secret. I also paid $60k for my T3 and got the backlash as a free extra - 72,000 km on and it just gets worse and Ford still insist it is typical of this model - this is exactly the line they (the travelling engineer) will feed you, whether it is Strapp Ford or any other dealer.

Good luck but don't hold your breath.

BTW they also tried to blame the clutch, diff, and engine PCM for causing my backlash. After replacing the clutch it got worse. After replacing the diff it got worse. The PCM has the most recent software update - no difference. The one time they did replace the gearbox it was also worse, so I had them put the original back in ... if you want to drive an XR8 or a GT you have to learn to live with it or spend $7k on a T56.

The shunt in the GT went away when I put the Pedders in, but as someone explained on another post that it would, yeah it came back, hope you can get some satisfaction Mondie

I was expecting the shunt .... but not sure the problem lies with the T3650

I have felt shunt in cars with the T5, T45, T3650 and the T56 !!!! :ermm:

Zap,

l dont think there is 2 levels of service going on here. l took the car back to the dealer l bought it from and got brushed off. Our XR6T had the clunk and l had it measured by Ford, it came in at 25mm exactly half of the allowable spec. So l have a history with this bloody problem :ermm:

l think this time l detailed how many times l have been through this and that it was my second BA with the clunk, and perhaps put forward a case for some action better than l have previously. l also think Strapp are excellent, they come highly recommended from many people at FF, they are willing to help.

t6Man > l did have the same problem in the T as noted, and also have heard of some people reporting the clunk with autos, l dont believe its the T56.

Will keep you all posted.

You know my opinion Simon.  Best of luck with a fix.

Thanks mate.

l think l am gonna need it :spoton:

Will be takiing the car down to Strapp late next week so it will be interesting to hear what the Ford Field Engineer has to say. As Strapp said last week, the buck stops with him.
