  1. I have just bitten the bullet and sold off my beloved WR400 it was a rocket if you could hold the throttle on, and the suspension worked sweet at higher speeds, but after riding a KTM300exc, gasgas 250-300 and 450 FSE and numerous other bikes, the poor old yamaha wasnt up to much. so I tested a new WR and found it to feel identical to mine :( Before you buy go for a loo kat all the euro brands as they have a wicked line up. I was a yamaha rider before I tested all the new euros and I have had to concede I was much faster and more comfordable on the euros
  2. One observation I made while watching the race was that both Lowndes and Whincup hardly put a tyre wrong all day. I grew up a Brocky fan ( the driver not his cars ) and when Lowndes came onto the scene it was intersting watching him be tutored/mentored by the man. watching these two guys circulate, it was very interesting to see that they both were producing similar driving styles to brock. it looks like the 'perfect' aspect of peter was taught to lowndes, and maybe he has passed some of that on to whincup..
  3. Congrats to lowndsey and whincup for a great drive and fending off the kellys in the closing stages. Go the fords!
  4. 'Aparantley' the garrets chosen were developed and used to aleviate excessive EGT's and etc. being built to suit the engine, its fairly unlikeley that they will change the specs, unless they find a cheaper supplier. they may downsize the turbo, but they cannot really choke off the turbine side any more.. what they can do is redice the inducer size. the consequences this carries are the need to increase boost to retain output, extra torque loading on the driveline earlier as the smaller rotatong mass should in theory reach boost threshold earlier ( commonly refered to as lag, even though the term is incorrect.) One other thing for them to look at with this option is the fact that they will then be running the fuel systems at higher pressures as a result of increased boost, so they would likley re-engineer the fuel system and so on and so forth. while it is possible, there are way to many pitfalls into twidling the proven combo UNLESS there is a sizeable financial benifit in doing so. We as the motoring public generally will take a back seat to all this.
  5. Thanks Daniel, I picked up a few stone chips, but you get that. A bit of touch up is expected, after all it's my daily driver ! Cheers Robin. ← Robin, If I caused those stone chips, please accept my appologies. I was trying to drive around whatever loose stuff I could see, but I still got a fair bit. Dan
  6. if you free up the exhaust, even if it doesnt give much power increase UP TOP, you will find a decresed spool time as the turbo isnt fighting backpressure to spin up. as a direct result you should pick up midrange power giving you some more area under the curve, which will translate to faster acceleration and the feeling of more power provided you can keep traction. always provided its edited so the ECU doesnt pull timing and rain o nthe parade
  7. was a good route garry. cheers to everyone who made the first event for me a good one. gary, next time we are on a drive and I have the mate with the white BF we will give you advance warning of the syncronised driving Dan
  8. If you guys need any guidance thru the curvy and windy bits, holler at me and I will assist. see you lot soon! Dan
  9. im not affraid of my local weather, so long as its not fogged in im crusing. well, even if it was fogged in I'd probably go. its been raining but is not too bad, more windy now. Cheers and see you all soon at wallan! Dan (EDIT) the sun has broken out now too, so it'll likley dry out before long
  10. Seeing as its looking to be wet, PLEASE take it easy and use extreme caution around the twisties leading up to and beyond kinglake. I have severd some time in the local SES and these roads are decpetivley tricky at times.. I REALLY wouldnt like ot see anyone, much less one of you guys involved in an incident!! Cheers and see those of you who dont wuss out tomorow.. Dan
  11. I have had a slight change in arrangements. Due to a late entry in the form of a mates 25th on sat night, I will catch you guys at the wallan stop
  12. gday guys, I have noticed that the auto holds onto each gear until it bumps the rev limiter (stock car) in adaptive and sports auto modes. if I manual shift it there is a delay before it does anything, but that's probalby just in the ecu not to change straight away. Can this be tuned out within edit? or am I looking at vlave body tweaks to get the shift acceptable?
  13. bah! joke all you like. unfortunatley I live on a dirt road... the ute is mine. soon to undergo open heart surgery.. the 351 is a little tired.. but I will change that.
  14. hey, I blame the step-father, the grass is his baby. but that dead lookign patch is actually the brick cover for the septic tank.
  15. Gday guys just washed and techwaxed the T so here is a photo. Dan
  16. Disco, the unichip was used before the edit box was designed. the edit is better only as it allows control over far more parameters than the unichip. unichip is great in its usefull range, but looses out to the purpopse built edit. have you finaly gotten out of teh POX commodes?
  17. I will have a playing card sticker made up at some point for the car, and most likley for my truck as well. so if any of you see it in and around melb, give a wave.. Dan
  18. Part of the nick is from motorhead, but mainly its from a poker run I recently entered with my dirt bike club. first card out of the pack was the death card and my entrant number was 13.. so as you can see im highly superstitious, especially as I completed a further 5 laps on the course.. dont know about any cruises other than the flowerdale run atm. Thanks for the welcomes, im sure the stay will be an eventful one Dan
  19. hey, im from the northern end of melb. its got premium sound, leather and probably one or two other things. as for the mod bug..... I have a VL-turbo in the shed and a 351 ute that is looking like a likley candidate for a turbo conversion.. This thing is for driving. might edit it, but wont be chasing power. just getting it tuned properly. but we will see what tune im singing in six months
  20. I will be picking it up in saturday, so I will grab a few pics and slap them up, but jsut think 100% stock. Dan
  21. After several years of waiting for things to be in favour, I have finally purchased an XR-T in Acid Rush.. I have been teased with the xr's and fpv cars for years whenever a mates dad brings them home. at least he always brings them over So I guess it goes something like this Hello, my name is Dan and im a boostaholic....... Gday guys..........
  22. gday guys, although I havent gotten a T yet, it is about to happen . Being a local of kinglake, I will endeavour to wander up and meet you guys. all I can say, is that the roads are fairly wet and mossy at present so please take care hope to see you all at the Wombat. Dan
