Morning @k31th! Bought my spectator ticket for powercruise in Perth this morning! Friday to Sunday (2nd to the 4th), keen to go for the 3 days! Couple of mates from the car community with some serious rigs are going so I'm keen to hop in and ride along! One day the daily will enter but that's a long time coming - baby steps 😏

Excuse the ignorance but wtf does asbestos have to do with turbos? 😋 How does a court case like that screw them. And Honeywell can suck a toe. All they do is try to buy their way into industries. Damn them and all their money!

Morning @k31th! Out of interest, when did it become a thing to post in this thread every single morning? 😋
-
I see your point, however on the flip side. Why not spend the time to reinforce it before it becomes another car added to the list of broken cradles 😋 Again, if all I pay for is a sheet of steel, carton of piss, and a can of spray paint then why not do it. For the amount of steel we'd use, I can likely get it from the scrap pile at my brothers work, as good as free!

Don't get confused here mate, I'm an electronics engineer. Good with a keyboard not on the tools 🤣🤣🤣 (unless its a soldering station). Literally handballing this project to my brother with a carton and letting him go wild on the cradle 😋 Will definitely take some shots when we do this though!

Definitely feel for you guys in Vic 😞 Hopefully restrictions will begin to ease soon and you can all start cruising again! 💪

You're allowed to step outside your house in Melbourne!? Thought you guys are in some hectic "stage whatever" lockdown? I took a rocker cover to the powder coaters, tried my best to clean it before taking it in, the wreckers didn't take very good care of it that's for sure. This is after one round of pressure cleaning it with an acid impact cleaner. I did this 3 more times but didn't get any more photos. Came out a tonner better but still had caked on dried oil. The guys at the powder coaters were very pleased I even attempted to clean it, said its by far not the worst condition they've seen and they'd easily be able to get it back to tip top shape before painting. Can't wait to get it back 😄😄

Hmmm didn't think of that 🤔 Maybe the ims twin bush setup is a good idea then 🤣 Add it to the list! 😋 For now though, free labour and cheap sheet metal to keep the stock setup from breaking is the way I'm going

I have superpro hybrid diff bushes, definitely louder at slow speeds than the stock replacements but a tonne better!! With a goal of 330rwkw I'm not concerned about the diff bushes being an issue, its the cradle I've been worried about! Hence the creation of this thread. And if the weak point of the rear end becomes a bolt after reinforcing the cradle, is that even a bad thing? Cheap part to replace! When they break, do they damage the diff housing or is it the head of the bolt that usually breaks? If it damages the threads of the diff housing then scratch my "cheap weak point" theory 🤣

My guess would be diff bolt. But I have zero experience with pushing the limits of the diff and diff supports so no idea really 🤣 have seen a lot of posts on club fg on fb of people breaking the diff bolt

Howdy all! Quick question about the forums, when I'm on here I'm on a PC 99% of the time. I do check it out on my phone and iPad sometimes too using Chrome. Is there a 3rd party app that people use when mobile? Just wondering cause on my phone it gets a bit slow - it's an s8 so quite old tech nowadays 😉

Rob said its very likely it has, he found all sorts crap and gunk, sealants mostly, on and around the girdle. Whoever was in here before clearly didn't give a sh*t about the motor.
-
Yea my thoughts exactly! Rob gave me the pieces and all photos he took for warranty purposes in case anything happens. But we all know how much of a scam the warranty companies are so really, is there any point even documenting it 🙃 4 claims made through nwc so far and 0 have been accepted 🤣 In other news, I've always wondered why I never got email notifications from the forums. Doubled checked my settings and all seems in order... Just checked my spam folder and EVERY notification email from threads are there!! WTF GMAIL!

Morning @k31th! Took my daily into Monsta Torque on tuesday to get oil pump gears installed. Got it back yesterday evening with a nice little baggie of metal that Rob found in the sump. Said in all his years of working on these rigs he's never seen this before. Looks to be an oil drain gasket that was dropped into the motor and left to steep! Apparently its likely it went through the timing chain. He spent a lot of time inspecting the motor for damage but couldn't find anything of concern which is so freaking lucky! Guess I'll keep this as a memento for what could have been a very day should this have broken something!

When to upgrade FPR?

Will be Monsta Torque as he's doing my oil pump gears. Everyone I know goes through him and he's never let anyone I know down. Just the wait time is agggggggesss cause he's always booked 😂 And yes I know you're 100% right about wanting more. But as the saying goes, happy wife happy life (she not my wife yet but you get the picture). I just have to contain myself till I can afford to have another car, so that I don't have to worry if I break the car 🤣 Rent too.... Rent is important to, well, live -

Yea will leave that up to the tuner, I want to use whatever he prefers 😊 Pretty certain he'll use something like this anyways -
When to upgrade FPR?

Cheers @JETURBO & @Puffwagon! Settled then! I'll get a 255 intank pump seeing as I'll be chasing the 300kw mark for the next 1.5 years at least! 400+kw is a long term goal that can only come after a house (as per the Mrs request 😅🤣 ) Next two purchases will be a 255 intank, then injectors. Last on the list is a high flow cat and she'll be ready for the dyno! 💪 -

Any links to where I can buy the drop in units? Found this after a very rudimentary google search 😂 https://www.kpmmotorsport.com.au/product/streetfighter-1000hp-fuel-pump-module-fg-fgx-sedan-models/ Update - Found another! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FG-6CYL-8CYL-SEDAN-WALBRO-460-GENUINE-DELPHI-FUEL-MODULE-/324037918852?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 -
When to upgrade FPR?
biddie_fiddler replied to biddie_fiddler's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
@arronm Yea it may be a lot to spend for 300 mark, but that's not my final goal, just the first stage 😉 The idea in my head is that I don't want to upgrade stuff for 300, only to have to upgrade it all again once a bigger turbo is fitted. So if installing a bigger fuel pump and potential fpr now to save money later then its a no brainer imo! walbro 460 may be overkill for 300kw, but 350 and over? At least this pump will be able to stay in the car for quite some time without the need to upgrade. Same goes for the injectors. @JETURBO if I go down the 460 intank route instead of the 255 like you and @arronm recommended, where would the limit (kw wise) be on just that setup? I really don't wanna have to replace the pump more than once 🤣 Basically, where is the limitations with a 460 pump + 1000cc injectors? Assume every supporting mod is done to reach this goal and the limitation is just this fuelling setup. If I can do a 460 + 1000 injectors now with a standard fpr then sweet! I can easily add an fpr later down the track. Especially seeing as goleby's does a drop in fpr kit for just shy of $350 - handy! Goleby's sells the bosch injectors as "static flow matched", however you can pay a premium to get them dynamically flow matched. Extra $90. The injectors would be around the $105 per injector mark then. I have seen ID on a number of sites but they are usually more than $105 each, understandably though cause I've never heard anything bad come from ID injectors - same to be said for the bosch injectors too though. -

Thanks for the input @JETURBO! Would I be able to get away with leaving the stock fuel pump in if I'm only chasing low 300's then? 🤔 What injectors are the go to nowadays then? I thought bosch injectors were decent? 😅 -
When to upgrade FPR?
biddie_fiddler replied to biddie_fiddler's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Yea I understand the overkill parts 🤣 Its a daily driver and will be for about another 2 years. Got 3 semesters left of uni and then I get a sweat pay rise so I can finally afford to own 2 cars - some sh*tbox and then this rig as a weekender. I figure that I can start to put "good" parts in now to save the time later. Once I'm bored of the stock 3576 I wanna be a guinea pig for the aerofail boosted range. Basically trying to set up the car such that its overkill for the stock turbo, and then once I upgrade the turbo I should only need to do the turbo & minimal extras (like valve springs, atomic timing kit, etc) Just finished installing the 1000hp plazz IC. The piping is done, intake done (antz battery relo and intake), external trans cooler done, oil pump gears booked in on the 15th. What do you consider to be a "huge pump"?? Do you think a 460 + stock fpr is fine?? -
Hey all, So I'm in the process of slowly gathering parts for my mk1 fg for a tune. I'm not chasing huge power (low 300's is my goal). I'm going to be getting a walbro 460 intank pump as well as 1000cc injectors. I'm wondering if the stock fpr will be fine for this power target or if I should upgrade it? At what point should I consider upgrading the FPR? Goleby's do a FG fuel system upgrade kit for $1,000AUD which includes Bosch 1150 cc injectors, walbro 460, and a turbosmart fpr800. Seems like a fairly good deal to me, but if I don't need a FPR then I figure there's no point buying this.
