    Weird smoke

    More so when cold but still does it at normal operating temp. 6 was only down 5psi from the others and I think it may be a head gasket now. oil from dip stick shows no signs of milky ness but in the catch can it does....but I thought that was due to condensation in the can. White smoke does come out of the can also at times.

    Ba started to blow thick white smoke especially at idle, when taking off easy at lights and downshifting to take corners. Cruising or under h abt acceleration it doesn’t seem as bad. Anyways, had it checked out and it is not turbo seals or valve stem seals but a suspected ring issue in #6 due to excessive oily plug. funny thing is it is not burning excessive oil (not showing on dip stick) and still gets up and boogies with no dramas at all with great oil pressure readings etc. anyone else been down this lonely garden path?

    Probably been asked before .... will an NA Xr6 tailshaft bolt to a turbo Xr6 car is a btr box and iv got an na tailshaft lined up till I buy an upgraded one from hardy spicer.
  5. Are you able to send photos of where to install resistors if you have time and how much difference did it make in regards to shifting?

Funny you say that cause Iv rebuilt the front end all except the lower control arm bushes ! its got pretty much every performance mod that's suggested for the Barra engine. std btr box and rear end though. im thinking bout doing the front rotors and now will do the lower bushes thanks to your advice mate. Thanks.
  7. Okay after recent mods and testing, my ba has developed a weird slight vibration at around the 60km mark under light acceleration. I noticed the vibration after normal driving whilst coming home from work. I know the front pads need replacing and I'm thinking that it may be warped disks as when braking down steep hills I get bad wheel shudder. I know other posts have been tailshaft related but my problem only exists at normal acceleration and low speed. what do ya recon ???
  8. Problems all sorted after re-tune and a silicone joiner leak repaired. Made 410rwhp on 15psi, which I'm happy with ATM. Have a good one
  9. Thanks gents. The shop had actually told me that the aftermarket boost controller was not as good and is going to resort back to the standard one. (this was missed when tuning) The shop has really impressed me with their support into the problem and they think that it is an overboost setting that was also missed when originally tuned. Ill let you know how it goes after the re tune and dyno run today. Thanks once again for you help you were spot on with your diagnostics
  10. I know this issue has been raised many times before and I'v searched and learnt a bit but my problem is a bit different. The 2003 XR6t has got the 460 pump, 65 lbs injectors, dump, exhaust, intercooler, etc etc AND plazmaman valve springs just installed. I had a flash tune done and the car makes just shy of 400 rwhp with 15psi boost (controlled by a GFB electronic controller and solenoid, which may be the issue??) I give it a boot full in 1st and hits hard then change to 2nd and at around 3500rpm the car starts to go into some sort of limp mode and doesnt want to produce power. When I pulled over the engine was rough as and like people have said in other posts that all cylinders are not firing. Turn car off and restart straight away and car idles and runs fine till I boost it again. This is similar to other threads but I have the valve springs done and new plugs gapped to 0.8 so I'm still not sure on what the issue could be and any help or ideas would be appreciated. The car runs fine on 6psi boost and doesn't break down as described above. I thought that it may have been the cheep blow off valve that I have on it was opening under high boost causing car to run rich but not sure on my theory? Thanks
  11. Thanks gents. iv decided to go a 460 in tank and aftermarket fuel reg. I will modify the oem rail with weld on -6 fittings in anticipation for more mods in the future. iv just completed the battery relocation, cai and intake manifold piping so next step is fuel upgrade and valve springs. thanks for your advice! Can the 460 pump run off the standard fuel pump wiring loom???

Just starting the xr6t journey and I'm doing as much fabrication work myself to help save costs along with the satisfaction of building upgrades and learning about the car. my question is can you / do you use the factory internal fuel pump to supply an externally mounted surge tank/upgraded pump system (such as a 044) and keep the std sized fuel lines. I know in past projects I have feed surge tanks with Holley black pumps. thanks for any help or advice.
