Zf Box In Bf2 Won't Change Under Load
A couple of Wednesdays ago at Willowbank there were some modded FG's (Both sixes and 8's) that had the same kind of problems - ZF's not shifting on their own causing lots of rev limiter action. I pondered then what might cause this and then seen this thread.

How Common For Fg To Throw Water Pump Pulley
Quick drive up to my folks place ended poorly tonight - temp warnings come up on the dash, temp guage well into the red, pop the bonnet to find water pump pulley missing. Belt somehow dropped into the remaining shaft but the whole pulley is gone. Spoke to a relo who is Service Manager at a dealer in Central Queensland who has head of this four times now. Warning signs about a week ago was a sqeaky belt which I fixed with belt conditioner (silicon spray basically) - obviously masking the real problem. Gotta say, I was spun out to see a whole pulley missing. Sucks I am about 2 and a half months out of warranty too. Anyone else been through/heard of this?

New 4Cylinder Falcon
me. I'd buy one for the Mrs if the claimed fuel econ works out about right, and I know my company is looking at them as company vehicles for management.

Zf To Tune Or Not To Tune That Is The Question
I'm not a fan of my ZF tune, under WOT its great but it's a bit agricultural everywhere else. going to take it back to the guys who originally tuned it to see if they can soften it up a bit, otherwise back to stock for me.

Where To Go In Bris/redlands For Gb Service
M1 automatics I spoke with today at the recommendation from a member here sound like they know their sh*t. I would be supplying the lifeguard6 yourself though, not too many trans shops I have spoken to keep much of it in stock. Get it from motospecs. I have done heaps of research into other fluids - I know most advertised as being suitable will work, however because ZF refuse to approve anything other than Shell M1375.4 which is rebranded as lifeguard6 most shops wont risk it coming back on them. Googling today brought me to some fluid analysis results that showed LG6 has basically the same properties as Mercon SP - a spec which all the Nulon/Gulf Western/Penrite products meet. I myself in two weeks are having a trans cooler installed bypassing the heat exchanger and I am going to try another fluid not yet mentioned often but meets the above spec - and I am going to only do a pan drop service with the stuff rather than flush. They guy I'm going to backs this stuff 100%. I want to get the work done and see how it goes before I reveal what product is but basically its much the same stuff as the previous vendors (Nulon, Penrite etc) offer. Google 'LG6 Mercon' for some interesting reading. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2

Buying A 09 Fg G6E
Ego is a dark colour so shows up a lot of imperfections, in saying that my car is Ego and I don't find it a challenge to maintain FG's still have carry over issues with rear diff bushes but seeing as though you are only looking at a atmo car, should be fine. Ambient temp sensors fail reasonably regularly, the drivers seat can squeak, various bits of interior plastics can make noise. Pretty minor things really.

Center Muffler
my car had the muffler removed when I bought it, after a week I wanted to commit suicide. New muffler installed = less inclination of self harm.

Fg Xr6 Turbo - 300.6Rwkw
Shifting them hard apparently extends the life because they are not slipping during gearchanges. Reducing or elminating the torque reduction (as part of Engine tune) is what causes most damage to the box IMO. All ZF's need regular fluid changes - ignore the bullsh*t from Ford that suggests otherwise.

Fg Xr6 Turbo - 300.6Rwkw
Yep. Smashes through them, little to no slip. Awesome under WOT, pretty annoying everywhere else Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2

Fg Xr6 Turbo - 300.6Rwkw
My car had a zf tune by elite some time ago and its too harsh. Will be taking it back soon for a touch up. ZF tune is worth a tenth or two. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2

I have also read elsewhere try stalling it up in second whilst holding the brake, then just before launching drop it back into first and off you go - hopefully with some more boost. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2

A Few Questions
the BA/BF 4 speed is good for not much stock, they go ok when modded. The T5 manual is a joke, forget it. The ZF would be a pain to get going in anything but a car built with one. I wouldnt bother buying a car to drop a good motor in later, unless it was something other than a BA/BF. Just buy one with all the kit in the first place. Much easier and cheaper.

Rip Shifter's
I have mates who have installed Rip Shifters and have damaged the box due to overshifting - even with properly adjusted positive stops. I went for a Mal Wood one in my SS and Mal guaranteed me it won't harm the box, and it along with a fluid change was the best thing I could have done.
