  1. Happy Birthday [XRS1X]!

  2. Well factoring that most people will have an AUX input and perhaps a booster we wont be including that in the kit but in the instance where people dont have it ill post an appropriate ebay link (wont be me selling them). The kit will have no audio quality loss (from what we have managed to test) from any aux input to cars audio on standard premium sound. Im guessing if youve got a system youll get better sound
  3. Hey guys for those still interested just as an update. We are still waiting for some test parts to come in from china to develop our prototype. Due to the limited capabilities of the iPhone 3G/S there will we be developing 2 kits one for the iPhone 4 which we hope will be significantly cheaper than the kit for the iPhone 3G/S. For those like myself who have factory satnav and want to keep this feature you will also need to purchase a bypass kit. Personally I have ditched the factory nav in favour for the iphone and the TomTom app as it is easier and cheaper to keep the maps up-to-date. We are still a couple of weeks off what we want to do, having said that we could have a kit tomorrow but it is going to be much more expensive than what were looking at putting together. Cheers
  4. Hey guys just an update: Were currently working on 2 kits: Ones going to be more a low cost kit which will give you what you see on the YouTube video. Video to icc + screen overlay + mimics module. This will not offer reverse camera or factory navigation compatibility (realistically who will use this if they have an iPhone with tomtom app). The second kit will offer compatibility for reverse camera and satnav but obviously be more expensive. Spook your on the right track but your looking at paying around $700 plus all the soldering involved and headache with the calibration of the screen. If you can hold out a couple of weeks when we have got everything fine tuned you may look at a saving of a couple of hundred dollars if what we are researching actually works, which it should. For those with FGs at this stage we are going to trial this with the BA/BF and see how it fares and if we get a pretty positive reaction we will look at developing a kit for the FG The setup will utilize the AUX for sound output and the screen of the iPhone can actually be reduced to fit the screen for those who are interested. Just watch this space for updates and if your interested leave a post and I will contact you once the kit has been finalized
  5. Yeah after spooks post I quizzed him about it and he opened up and explained everything to me and how it works and that it was infact the mimics module he was using. He is looking to make a kit which will be plug and play which will involve no soldering (good for people like me) but he is still looking for places to source parts from to keep the cost to a minimum. He said the main issue he had was the calibrating of the screen but he had found an easy way of doing it and would have screens Pre-calibrated before sending them out. As we have got about 5 people expressing there interest he is going to get a formal price of the cost involved. Once his figured it out I'll post it on here for whoevers interested and they can go from there
  6. I usually wait for there to be a jailbreak available on the jailbreakme.com website because this is the easiest way by far. If your firmware is too recent then the best way if there is a jailbreak available would be to do a search on YouTube "iPhone jailbreak and firmware version"
  7. Yep that's correct will only work on color factory screens given the requirement for video output. Didnt have to cut anything at all on this install. The touchscreen I purchased off ebay was $60 and fit straight in but we are looking at alternatives to keep the cost of the overall project affordable. ASL offer a kit which costs about $400 and will just give you video output with no touchscreen capabilities. The kit we will be working on will do both. From what my friend has shared our biggest cost is put down to the communcation channel between the screen and the iphone. However while it will be a bit more expensive than the ASL package (by a couple of hundred dollars as a ballpark) you will get much more bang for your buck. Like I said I really dont know much about the technical side of things and the end kit wont be produced to make money on products rather time invested forming them. We are just merely trying to pass on this brilliant idea on with other people who like myself are really that technically savvy sure am! really only jailbroke to setup this project. will never look back, the phone has so much capabilities.
  8. Thanks guys. Yeah I did the overlay and rgb kit myself but could never figure the communication channel between the overlay and the phone (which is where my friend came in). I also found out that where I had originally sourced my rgb box and overlay from that I was charged a significant premium. Like everyone else I want to justify the outlay for the result. If there is a interest I will urge my friend to develop a kit designed specially for the BA/BF falcon because installing this for the first time took over 2 days, with the right cables and a bit of know how can't see why it can't be done in about 2 hours. As for the android as I am unsure of it's software capabilities I really can't give you a definite yes or know but if it has got a video out and rotational software I honestly can't see why not. If anyone is interested in this let me know and once all the fine tuning and bugs are sorted I will look to get a kit realease given there is enough interest
  9. Gday guys, So after being content with the performance modifications I had made to my car it was time to work on a new project and more on the cosmetic side of things. For years I have read several posters share their innovative ideas and things they have done in the audiovisual department and the capabilities that the standard ICC has to offer. I had been contemplating following the trend and doing a full incar pc setup running centrafuse but after seeing the outlay required I could not really justify this option. It so happens that like most people these days I happen to have an iphone and since having this device I barely used my PC so thought if it would be amazing if somehow I could incorporate the iphone into the ICC. After months on end of research I hadn’t had much luck. I passed my idea on to a technical minded friend and he has come up with the ultimate solution, As per the youtube video I can now not only output my iPhone’s video onto the screen but I can also control the screen. My friend is reluctant to share the technology behind what he has done but he has said he will look into developing a plug a play kit for anyone who is interested. At the moment it still needs some fine-tuning but you can see the potential of the project.
  10. Congrats James, must feel awesome now. Well done to the Pit Lane Crew again continually producing the goods
  11. - Transcooler - DEKA Injectors _ Rapid Systems V3 Intake - X-Force 3' Exhaust Standard valve springs and drivetrain copped a beating due to the harshness of the tune though
  12. Thanks for the comments guys, as PAZZ pointed out its AUTO and running 14.5 PSI Yeah James its very loud, I'm thinking of puting a BOV to quiet it down a bit or at least have some control over it. It sounds awesome but. Yeah we should cruise it somewhere over the summer or something mate. Be good to get a few Ts together
  13. Yeah James I got the full 4' dump into 5'cat to 3.5' single system I looked at your threads as well and you have very similar mods to me and the same tuner so it gave me a good indication of my power figure which was good. As I said in the original post the forum is such a good source of information and helped me out alot. Franc
  14. As in this thread: Thanks Pit Lane I was running 290rwkw on a very ordinary tune, done by a very ordinary tuner. Headed out to Pitlane and can't be happier with the result Mods to date: - Nizpro Valve Springs - Rapid System V3 Intake & Exhaust - Siemens 60LBS Injectors - Transmission Cooler - 12PSI Actuator and Ported Housing I'd like to thank Mick & Belinda @ Pit Lane and Chris @ Rapid Systems for all your help and guidance Also like to thank all the contributors to the forum for the information you share. It has been very valuable, though I might not post much I do alot of reading and this forum has been very informative Cheers Franc
  15. I know its already been done but I'd be up for a set of nizpro valve springs as the last group buy had a pretty nice saving
  16. Yeah no worries dude let me know how it goes! Hopefully its not too serious.. Was your auto noisey in park and on idle as well or just when it was in gear? At the moment when my car starts up there is a massive rattle at the start then the noise dies down when the revs drop. Having said this when the problem initially started and I had all the gears it sounded like a noisy tractor when the revs were down but normal when they were up.
  17. Hey mate, similar thing happened to me on Thursday night. The car was driving fine but with a massive noise when the revs were under 1500. I was told by my tuner that the metal particles in my had cat broke, however my cat had done under 20km lol. When I exited a roadwork area and tried to accelerate to the new speed limit (I didn't nail it) it just revved like it was in neutral. When I rolled into the next side street I realized I had lost all drive and reverse gears. The car still starts but with no movement and the sound is still there. I just got the car towed today to a mates to get his retired old man to try fix it for me. If we can work out what it is ill let ya know and visa-versa. Hopefully its not too much as I just forked out to get a bit of work done :(. Franc
  18. Hey mate, I have had my XR6T for nearly 2 years and am in Victoria as well. I haven't been pulled over once yet (touch wood). Having said that I always drive under the speed limit. I give it a squirt on freeway entrances and at the lights like most people would but all in reason. In my opinion if your going to be a hoon, do stupid sh!t and risk your life as well as innocent others then you deserve to get done the cops, loose your license and car. I drive my T only on occasions and have a sh*t box BMW that I drive as my daily. It is a very big difference in power that im just getting used to after 2 years. But at the end of the day its your choice what your going to do. In my opinion I would by a POS now and make a decision to either wait or get one now. If you really want a T there is no point wasting your money on a NA or something similar if your just going to get rid of it in a few years. Cheers Franc
  19. ive had sony Ericsson's for the last 3 years but this time around I got myself a nokia n82. one of the better decisions of my life. nokia was slipping behind the crowd for a while but now they have caught up and there phones are debatebly the best on the market.
  20. as I said before it depends on the exclusion clause of your contract as to whether or not you are covered. Some insurance company's will cover you whilst others wont that's why you have to read the fine print
  21. I admire how you account both side into your post unlike others and I agree with all your points and sorry if I was a bit brash before. The reason as to why I brought a T now rather than down the track is because had I brought an economical car as such I probably would have spend $16gs on something I didn't like and would only use for 3 years. At the time my T came up for about 6gs more than that so instead of paying stamp duty and going through all the paper work twice I brought the car which I really wanted. The 6gs extra that I spent essentially is only worth about 2gs when you take out double the stamp duty and depreciation, hence my decisions. I don't really think that this amount is going to affect a house loan of over $400g. Though in saying that had I brought the car brand new for 48gs or round abouts I would have thrown 24gs down the drain after the first 2 years of ownership. My car however is still worth the same amount as what I brought it for, if not more. Franc
  22. Mate half the points that you have brought up I have agreed with both my post's. But if you read my first post correctly never did I state that money brought maturity. Sure I'm probably not as mature as a 30 y.o. but for my age I'm more mature than most people my age. I'd agree with you that most P plate drivers are hoons, but not all. I don't appreciate you wishing bad things on me because of my opinion. If you think I'm wrong your free to disagree in a diplomatic way. Remember your accusing us of being immature. As for the insurance I am covered but in other instances there are clauses which wont cover you as I stated here Not all times its about jealousy, Superoo was just an example I used (I wasn't inferring him to being jealous) but there are people my age who are telling me what I should have spent my money on and they don't have a cent to my name. Like they spend their money on partying etc I prefer to spend my money on a car. I'm not disagreeing with you on the house idea and my money is in fact is in a managed fund and a house is the next thing on the cards. My job now is only part time and when I'm out of uni there is a chance I might be on the amount you proposed where I can live more comfortably. The point I'm trying to bring forward is that not everyone is equal. Franc
  23. AHAHA @ your insurance price. With your insurance policy you have to still check if your covered as some insurance company's will give you a cheap quote and you wont be covered because in their exclusion clause it will say something like if its against the road rules then the contract is void. Just a heads up. IMO, I reckon police pick you up depending on your car, theres probably a higher chance of getting picked up in a VL than in a BA.
  24. Hey mate, I drive a XR6 Turbo on my P's here in Victoria. Ive never been pulled over so I don't know what the cops are like but that's because I drive like a grandma on the road and stick to the speed limit. My friend on the other hand has been pulled over in his T for a random breathy but the cops never jerryed about the performance regulation. I guess it all comes down to luck with that at the end of the day though and if your willing to take the risk then its up to you. As for insurance im covered and the only nominated driver but my insurance is combined in a package with other items my family insures so it decreases the cost hence why I probably pay less for my insurance than most 25+ y.o. drivers do. All due respect Superoo but that's a very stereotypical comment. I cop so much sh*t from jealous people who continuously tell me how I should have brought a house instead of a nice car. I've been working for 4 years and im currently at uni and ive paid off my T and still have enough money to put a deposit on a house, so if your willing to work hard you can afford such things. I'm not having a person dig at you but at the end of the day the way people act and how they finance their money are entirely up to them. Just because your young doesn't mean your clueless and immature! Cheers Franc
