Guys, Here is another update re the Terry on GoAuto Enews (Cant find the other post that listed the last GoAuto update..) Direct quotes from Enews 25 Feb 04 Ford's Territory is equipped to the hilt FORD’S forthcoming Territory SUV could well be the car for those who just can’t do without a canoe carrier, 50-litre mobile fridge or at least 31 internal storage compartments. Ford has released detailed equipment lists for its full-size crossover wagon, and the inventory of no fewer than 67 dealer-fit accessories makes for interesting reading. The list also confirms Territory, on sale June 1, will be offered in two specification levels, dubbed in the interim by Ford as Entry Series and High Series – each available as either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Ford’s 182kW DOHC inline six-cylinder is the only engine choice (for now), but combined with ex-factory optional third row seating across the board there’s officially eight different Territory variants. The range will kick-off with a rear-drive five-seater priced in the mid-to-high $30,000 bracket. Spotted a Terry this morning with trade plates on it. It was lightning strike.(or close to it) It looked like it had a full set of badges on it. It must have been a low series as it had a "XT" badge on the rear right. I work near Jeffs shed. So must have been heading that way for the Motor Show. Looked the goods!

Yep I would go another T... It all depends on what is around.! If the Terry comes in T form and drives like one. It may be a goer! If I had to replace it tomorrow. Then Yep the T would be the winner!

geezz there are some tossers around!!

Mate, Im am not 100% but fairly sure that FPV only have incorporated clubs to set up a display. Given the late notice I would think that they have every thing set out by now. So maybe next year.. I will be there for a few hours on the day to have a look see..

oz951, Mate.. I have an Auto XR6T. I have towed a caravan around Australia (the van was around 1500kg loaded. During the trip I encountered the extreems of the Australian outback (46 deg head wind etc) with no problems at all. The Auto cars come with a finned auto trans cooler as standard. THe engine temp raised to about half but that was it. The performance of the car while towing is still fantastic. Just excelerate to pass the road trains and off she went. While towing I mainly sat on 90-95k/h. On the complete trip of 20,000km I averaged 16l/100K (fairly flat roads). I have not run mine on the track so cane comment re the auto and track work. The manual shift on the auto is good but not as good as a manual for track work I would guess. How hevey is the 944?? The XR8 auto is limited to 2300kg so with all your tools, trailer, car etc it may be over the 1600KG, although I am guessing that there is safety margin in the 1600KG limit on the Turbo. I would not like to try too many runs up the adelaide hills though.. my 2cents worth.

Cary, I think you have hit the nail on the head. I have changed a few cars over after leases and I believe that you will not get the money back that you spend on a bunch of options. I have the theory that the options list is the nice bits you want and have not direct effect on the resale value. Apart form maybe premium sound. My 2cents worth. Oh by the way Quick will someone save Cary from the dredded team HgAg

I guess it had to be "T" something. I guess it will grow on us. Personaly I like the "F6".

Bugger... Would have attraced a few people! I am sure there are a few volenters that would drive it there for him!!!
-
ducatijb, must admit I was also dissapointed with the info re the transmition. I was talking to a guy from BTR a few weeks ago (while taking him for a drive in my car to show him noises form the diff) and the impression I got was that the Series II would have the ZF and the low series cars would have the current box. So maybee the ZF could be an interum thing.. Not sure. ime will tell..

Guys, Here is an article in Go Auto Enews No: 224.... Turbo Typhoon - Coming to the Melb motor show. Direct quote from Go Auto Enews... By MARTON PETTENDY STOP surfing those chat rooms, Blue Oval performance enthusiasts: Ford Performance Vehicles’ Melbourne motor show cat is out of the bag. That’s right, FPV has unveiled first (sketchy) details of its first turbocharged model, the F6 Typhoon, more than two weeks before it is due to wow crowds at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on February 27 – as predicted by GoAuto three weeks ago. Although officially still a concept, a production version is expected to go on sale in BA Series II guise around Sydney show time in October, when the F6 Typhoon name (which designates its employment of a “forced” straight six) will continue into showrooms if reaction is positive. Typhoon’s technical details will not be forthcoming until show time, but the F6 is clearly based on the popular XR6 Turbo sedan and features internal modifications similar to those seen on the XR6T mule piloted successfully by Steve Hoinville in the 2003 Targa Tasmania. That means a mild increase in peak turbo boost, a free-flowing exhaust system and a far more prominent and efficient intercooler. GoAuto understands Ford’s effective 4.0-litre DOHC turbo six is good for up to 350kW without major modifications and some aftermarket tuners already offer bolton XR6T kits that produce around 330kW of peak power. But refinement and reliability will be among FPV’s key objectives in upping the standard turbo engine’s output. Marketing demands will see Typhoon positioned – in terms of both performance and pricing – below the 290kW, $59,850 GT in FPV’s threesedan range, but above both Ford’s XR6T (240kW, $45,085) and XR8 (260kW, $50,130) sedans. So expect a pricetag of around $55,000 and power output in the vicinity of 280kW, plus enough torque to challenge the 5.4-litre DOHC XR8’s maximum of 500Nm. GoAuto, however, believes media reports that suggest Typhoon will be the first FPV to be offered with both a six-speed Tremec manual and six-speed semi-auto from German ZF are wide of the mark. Ford is still at least two years away from offering premium Falcons with a six-speed automatic transmission, and when it does it will be Ford’s newly developed six-cog slusher rather than the expensive German unit found in everything from S-Type to XJ, A8, 7 Series and LS430. Of course, Typhoon will also be graced with a new and exclusive front, rear and side bodywork, a rear wing and racy new 18-inch alloys. But Expensive Daewoo plans on stealing its thunder in Melbourne with the 2004 HSV GTS, the SST concept and another 'suprise' reveal. “This is the beginning of a new era for Ford Performance Vehicles,” said FPV managing director David Flint. “We raised the bar in the V8 segment with the GT and we believe the F6 Typhoon will further strengthen our position as the technical leaders in the tribal high-performance vehicle market. “It will demonstrate our commitment to providing a family of cars that offer a total performance package. “When we announced the formation of Ford Performance Vehicles we promised to create the broadest range of locallydeveloped high-performance vehicles in Australia. We believe the exciting F6 Typhoon is the next step in delivering that promise – but certainly not the last.” Mr Flint’s promise of more FPV models to come no doubt refers to a turbocharged version of Ford’s forthcoming Territory SUV, expected to be dubbed Hurricane 4x4, plus – further afield – the range-topping supercharged V8 GTHO. End Quote... Some interesting times ahead.
