TUF, It should be ok.... car will be serviced before the start of the rally..... the Rookie one is only 3 days anyway...... will carry a few spares on board, but worst case, something major goes, then that will be it..... I've been reading the CAMS regs anyway, and it would seem there is not a lot we can do to the cars anyway...... except BOOST or ECU mods...... So... the idea will be to keep it reasonably safe, tune wise..... We're planning at this stage to paint the GTR red/white/blue like the 91 Bathurst winning car.....

Thanks for the info... Yep... have been thinking, small size, light weight, TURBO...... unfortunately a T does not quite cut it... weight wise anyway.... Targa Tasmania now have a ROOKIE RALLY, which is basically the first three days of the event, with it's own lot of trophies..... a bit of a beginners version to the full event....... Now I've got to start sourcing a GTR and get it up to CAMS spec... ( Roll cage, 6 point harnesses... ) What fun........

Hi all, was just wondering if any members had competed in the Targa Tasmania, or been a crew member ?? I'm starting to look at a 2008 entry, as I'm too late for this year...... I won't be driving my T around, but probably a race prepped Skyline R32 GTR..... don't want to thrash my baby around...... Perhaps I should have a few big Forum stickers made up for the car ??? If anyone has any suggestions, would love to hear it... Thanks in advance....

On the main highway from the GC to Brisbane, which is 4 lanes in each direction... the SLOWEST / MOST CONGESTED lane is the right lane.... go figure..... I frequently get a good run on the left lane all the way up, as it's empty...... now where's the logic in that ???? Back in the days when I won my licence in the coco pops cereal box they did mention something about KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING....... FFS if you going slow, get the fark out of the way......

Guys, THANKS EVERYONE for the information. A very kind member here has sent me the employee pricing, and, to be HONEST with everyone..... Runout F6's at the dealers are NOW CHEAPER than an employee discounted vehicle..... I'm just glad I've waited this long, as earlier in the year I was being quoted 68k.... and now I can get a few driveaway at 53k....... I'm going to wait till January for the 06 plate runouts.... and see what I can get at that time...... main problem of course is the trade in val on the T, which as we all know... is in the toilet....... I'm going to take a bath no matter what, but once I have a Phoon, that will be it....... Cheers & thanks again all......

But dont worry.... Brisbane drivers are EVEN WORSE !!! Life on the Gold Coast is very relaxing.... until you have to drive to Brisbane..... then you get all the idiots who cruise at 100 in the right lane.... ( it's a 110kmh zone...... )

Well, there are two issues really aren't there.... 1) Crap resale values & 2) Excessive markups / profits.... funny that we let them do it to such a large extent..... Sorry to tell some of you, but this IS HAPPENING now with a few Ford employees that I have heard of...... so build a bridge.... As I have said.... I'm looking at the options, and this WAS offered to me in the past...... As far as the personal references to my user name, well, I'm not going to bite...... This was all about an interesting discussion about the possibilities of WHAT IS ALREADY BEING DONE....... and that's all it will probably ever be..... There are a few ways to get a discounted car... heck I know... I saved 14k on my T..... here's hoping I can do the same on an F6..... Cheers

um... DUH !!.. Car is PAID FOR, by the buyer.... Registered under Ford Employee..... Driven by buyer, who pays for Insurance....... after 12 months, documents exchanged to "legally" sell car to buyer....... ----------------------- ETHICS - Well, I guess this is for the Ford employees who do this...... It happens a fair bit from what I can tell...... But then again, what about the ethics of Ford, marking up their vehicles by such a large margin for us to buy at retail ???? --------------- I'm simply looking at this as a valid option to get into an F6..... sooner rather than later...... I'm also looking at a demonstrator with 6000kms on the clock for 49k...... My other option is to wait till Jan/Feb for all the 06 plate runouts that no doubt will happen...... Not trying to stir up a hornets nest here.... just looking at alternate options.....

Guys, thanks for the input..... The easy way around it, is to leave the car registered in employee's name for 12 months, with a private agreement drawn up, stipulating that ownership is to change at that time, and that any & all costs or infringements are at my own cost...... That way, FORD would not have an issue, the Employee stays out of trouble, and earns a few $$$, and I get a bargain....... Would that work ???? Opinions please guys, as I AM serious about this...... if anyone is interested......

LOL !!! now that sounds interesting !!... there are ways around that though..... do you guys get a 10k discount or has that changed now ?

Apologies if this is the wrong area for this, or, if anyone is offended by what I'm about to ask..... DO any members here, work for ford ? and are you eligble for employee pricing on an F6......

One has to wonder why the Ford teams did not try to help, once they saw what Expensive Daewoo were doing..... all that was need would be for a slower ford driver to put the *beep* off.... take a drive through, and the title would have gone the other way.... Ford learnt that the hard way..... On the other hand, the fact that they DID not stoop to low tactics like Holden, only re-inforces what Lowndes said tonight that FORD ARE THE MORAL CHAMPIONS this year..... they held their heads high even in defeat..... a true mark of a champion..... Still, I would expect and hope we see a bit of payback next year.......
