Targa Tasmania

Hi all,

was just wondering if any members had competed in the Targa Tasmania, or been a crew member ??

I'm starting to look at a 2008 entry, as I'm too late for this year......

I won't be driving my T around, but probably a race prepped Skyline R32 GTR..... don't want to thrash my baby around......

Perhaps I should have a few big Forum stickers made up for the car ??? :beerchug:

If anyone has any suggestions, would love to hear it... Thanks in advance....

Well you will be taking the right tool for the job.

Some time in my life I want to do the same thing with the exact same car.

My father was a member of the Pedders Rally team & a few others so he has done both Navagating & pitt crew on the course.

Me personally I have yet to do either for the Targa.

Evildaifu & I have talked about organising a cruise around the course as the maps are available, only differece being we would have to stick to the spead limit.

Thanks for the info...

Yep... have been thinking, small size, light weight, TURBO...... unfortunately a T does not quite cut it... weight wise anyway....

Targa Tasmania now have a ROOKIE RALLY, which is basically the first three days of the event, with it's own lot of trophies..... a bit of a beginners version to the full event.......

Now I've got to start sourcing a GTR and get it up to CAMS spec... ( Roll cage, 6 point harnesses... )

What fun........

There are a few.... have a look here :

http://www.targa.org.au/Targa/

1) Full on Race

2) Rookie Rally

3) touring ( just drive the same tracks but at speed limit )

for 1 & 2 I think there is also a split between modern cars & Classics.....

The only key problem you will have with the 32 is relyability & sourcing enough parts to cover the Rally.

TUF,

It should be ok.... car will be serviced before the start of the rally..... the Rookie one is only 3 days anyway...... will carry a few spares on board, but worst case, something major goes, then that will be it.....

I've been reading the CAMS regs anyway, and it would seem there is not a lot we can do to the cars anyway...... except BOOST or ECU mods...... So... the idea will be to keep it reasonably safe, tune wise.....

We're planning at this stage to paint the GTR red/white/blue like the 91 Bathurst winning car.....
