  4. Hi all, I know htis has probably been covered approx 19462 times but here it goes. I have developed an exhaust leak around the turbocharger area + snapped studs So I will be replacing all studs and gaskets. Im aware that ford didnt install a gasket between Manifold and Turbo however is the general census for or agains this? I know the turbo and manifold flange are machined flat so they should seal, however after 200k is it possible for warpage to occur? If this machined seal is so great then why is it not used from block to manifold or turbo to dump pipe? The only Con I can think of agianst installing a crush gasket is once the nuts have loosened off the gasket would require replacing, so frequently checking nut torque would be manditory. Also does anybody have any tips/tricks or things to look out for while doing this repair? Cliffs: -Should I fit gasket between turbo and manifold? Cheers
  5. I had the same problem that I resolved with a set of coil and plugs.. $230 for genuine items off eBay
  6. Found the poblem to be a bad leak from an intercooler pipe, However now the howling noise from the exhaust is back, Its a stainless steel X-Force system, I will check for broken mounts etc
  7. Actuator hose is and was still on fine, Check tb coupling and all the other hoses I touched yesterday, all seem fine, removed and installed again anyway and hasn't made a difference
  8. Hi, I bought a ba xr6 Turbo over the weekend with 190, XXX km It had a miss when it would come on boost so I replaced the coil pack and spark plugs with genuine ford items, while I was doing this I also cleaned the TB, cleaned the PCV and as per a guide on here sprayed some WD-40 down the wastegate line. After this I took it for a test drive and the miss was gone but it was making a howling noise from 3k+ and would go away further up. The noise sounded like it was coming from the exhaust After a couple of minutes of driving I heard a 'pop' noise from under the bonnet and heard the sound of compressed air rushing out, when accelerating I could also hear a 'zzzzz' whizing noise so I thought an intake pipe had probably popped off so I babied it the 2 minute drive back to the workshop. Checked all intake pipe's and vacumm lines and everything seems fine, when driving the car it seems very underpowered and feels like its not making any boost, however it starts and idles fine. It it possible that the wastegate actuator is stuck open? or is it more likely the turbo has been damaged? Im going to check again for boost leaks tomorrow What else should I be checking for CLIFFS: Replaced coil pack, Sprayed WD-40 down wastegate hose, clean TB and PCV Now car is acting like it has no boost, underpowered and making 'Whizzing' zzzzz noise (Can hear turbo spinning?)
