  1. Hi Dave, Good to hear from you and great to know that your T is performimg well. Now some very good questions and here's my thoughts as of now, 1) I believe the answer for the auto trans is that to some degree it's an unknown, the auto trans may well last for some time depending on how frequently the auto is asked to transmit higher torque. A detuned version of phase IV may be wiser for your auto application given the uncertainty with the auto trans situation. 2) It's certainly possible to generate higher torque lower in the rpm range though we've not worried about this to date due to concerns with the stock drivetrain, and in particular the CV joints and auto trans. 3) Dave we don't get involved in engine swaps/conversions (as we just don't have the time) and I'm not sure this would be very cost effective, maybe less expensive to sell the T and but a GT or XR8 if you're considering this path. Lets catch up when your back in town and chat about the options further, with any luck I will be testing the TT Boss in Jan and maybe we can go for a blast together. Thanks Peter
  2. Phase IV stock turbo, Phase V larger 800 Horsepower ball bearing turbo. Thanks Peter
  3. For sure, new forged pistons, rods and general blue printing of the engine specs. Thanks Peter
  4. I don't have final Power or Torque figures yet for Phase IV (though it will be plenty of both) this will be finalised and posred on the APS web site very soon. Thanks Peter
  5. That's a deal Frank..........will let you know after testing is finalised. Thanks Peter
  6. Scotty, the dyno guys from the show didn't graph torque or tractive effort but if you're keen enough you can calculate it from the graph above. In a nutshell though, "sufficient" is probably an adequate qualitative description of torque at PHASE IV engine performance levels. George
  7. No doubt you will need a tough auto or manual trans to cope with Phase IV power and torque levels. Thanks peter
  8. Good to hear from Frank and yes this control function is on current Unichip technology though there is some additional hardware required. I've not tested this on the T though I can't think of any reason why it would not work as well as it does on many other turbo cars..............must get around to trying this function in the near future. Thanks Peter
  9. Well performance always comes at a cost...............hope you can keep your wife though. Peter
  10. Using the Unichip computer to map the Phase IV engine and the 6 aux injectors (12 in total) and the APS ute is an auto (this will always be best for the strip) so getting into the 10's should not be a problem............I hope. On a manual trans T it may be possible to set up launch control and E quick shift via the Unichip computer (have done this on many other turbo cars) where the throttle on gear changes is kept 100% open to avoid a drop in the turbo pressure. Launch control allows the driver to keep his foot flat on the accelerator pedal and a predetermined engine rpm is programmed via the Unichip to allow the best engine rpm for traction and therefore the quickest take off (60 ft times). No doubt this Unichip function (launch control and E quickshift) would be very useful for manual trans XR6T's on the drag strip.............must get around to trying it out on the T soon. Thanks Peter
  11. Many thanks for your kind words and APS should have final pricing for the Phase IV system in early 05. Peter APS

Spiro's phase III from Sydney made 451hp and was the highest and driven down from Sydney. Congrats on the trophy Spiro. The cobra ute did run strong though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And driven back home to Sydney Dean, Spiro was in fact the winner of the highest powered T at the show. Peter APS
  13. aps would lead you to beleive that the t5 manual will take that power from what I was told at the show it all comes down to the clutch <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't be silly now. Peter
  14. Best guess would be around 640 HP at the crank. Peter
  15. Thanks Jeff and I was very pleased with the dyno result (over 100 rwhp better than the next most powerful T at the show) looking forward to running this engine next year and hopefully going quicker than a 10.98 pass at calder. Peter APS
  16. As the release of the APS PHASE IV High Output System draws closer, we took the opportunity to exhibit the APS PHASE IV XR6T in the Melbourne show and ran on the competition dyno. Whilst the final PHASE IV specification and power level is not yet ready for public announcement, the power demonstrated at the show is a good indication of the huge potential available to APS PHASE IV customers. Using the latest (and most conservative) version of Dyno Dynamics Shootout software, the APS PHASE IV blitzed all other high powered XR6Ts with an awesome 557.7 hp at the wheels. Best of all (and testimony to the high efficiency of the PHASE IV system), the peak turbocharger boost pressure used to achieve that great power result was a modest 17 psi. In the not too distant future, we'll be unleashing the full potential of the system after further tuning development. Preliminary information on the PHASE IV system is at http://www.aps-xr6t.com/falcon/phase_iv.htm - with more information as it comes to hand. George
  17. Well the mph all comes down to both the the power and weight of the car.......that simple. Peter APS
  18. Nick I'm nearly sure you will find it's a retarder problem of some kind as I've never seen a car vary 60 rwkw's ( when in fact the car is not producing the power) of couse there are other facts which can vary the power such as acc rate and how the car is held on the dyno, etc, etc. I have no doubt mate that you have a problem with the dyno as the power you measured (392 RWkW's) would result in a much bigger mph than what geea is seing at the track over the 1/4 mile. With that amount of power the car would run 125 mph at a minimum, our blue ute with 400 RWkW's would run 125 to 127 mph consistently. In any event I hope you get to the bottom of the problem as it's frustrating when you know there's a problem though can't find any logical explanation. Peter APS
  19. Craig I believe you will find that the retarder was hot and not able to hold and measure the power correctly..............this was a common occurance in the old days when the smaller retarders got very hot the power figures just kept on getting bigger as the retarder got hotter. As you correctly stated the mph shows the real power and I believe that the HPF dyno is measuring your power level very accurately, APS measured Deans car at around 334 RWkW's and his and your mph are very close............in other words 2 + 2 = 4. No doubt Nick has some problem with his Dyno (sorry Nick no offence intended) maybe you should look into watercooling the retarder, this is what APS did to handle very big grunter engines and to achieve repeatable power readings, dyno run after dyno run. With water cooling on the large retarder you can run big grunter engines (500+ rwkw) for long periods of time without any sign of retarder fade. Bottom line Geea the mph you run is proof of the power your car produces, if you know the weight of your car and the mph you've run over the 1/4 mile then basic math will show you the real power of the engine within 5 horsepower or so. Hi Dan, Yes of course - that stuff's easy - (does 307 kph sound familiar?). But it is premature of us to speak of individual features. As Peter had said, comprehensive information will appear on the APS web site prior to product release - that will give you guys a chance to fully appreciate and absorb the huge amount of technical information that APS will provide. Until then we don't intend to discuss the product on the forum as we need to fully brief our dealers across the country first. I hope you guys understand - and your patience will be rewarded handsomely. George

Now that sounds like the perfect product...............real time Tuning of the fatory PCM. Well let's wait and see....................good things come to all who are patient. Peter

Craig I don't want to raise consumer expectations too high as many factors are the result of additional power though I can say that with new Phase III hardware and aditional tuning that I expext low to mis 11's from a well driven T. Peter
  23. aps replied to obrut6's topic in General Tech
Macka very soon is all I'm prepared to say for now..................all will be revealed on the APS web site. Thanks Peter
  24. aps replied to obrut6's topic in General Tech
I will post the exact date for the release very soon...............there are many other commercial matters that need to be finalised before the release of the Bossedit, the product range is much larger than the Ford Bossedit product only. Peter
  25. aps replied to obrut6's topic in General Tech
All will be revealed in the very near future...........all of the information will be on the APS web site. I can say that this Bossedit (APS-EDIT) will be state of the art and have many new features and functions never seen before in any other edit product. Peter
