Hi frank, I will need to investigate this issue further, it may be possible with the current unichip software give me a little time to find out for you. Peter APS

Rwkw
G'day guys, Drive train loss is fairly constant and not a percentage as is commonly thought. In the xr6t the drive train and retarder losses (on a dyno dynamics dyno) are approx 45 to 50Kw on a manual and around 55 to 60 Kw on a auto trans. I would need to know if you have an auto or man trans to answer your question on your power level. Peter APS

Aps Phase III Passes
G'day guys. Thought you would like to know that we have completed ADR 79/00 emission testing on the APS phase III system and we are pleased to say that we passed with flying colours. This is significant as it means that the product is STREET LEGAL and satisfies the EPA so that you cant be forced by the NSW and VIC EPA to remove the product from the car. With proof of ADR 79/00 compliance and a registered engineers report (cost between $500 to $750) this complies to all of the known state authorities requirements and provides complete peace of mind knowing that your investment in performance is protected. If you guys have any questions on this issue that is on the phase III performance level or emission legality, let me know and I will answer your questions. Peter APS

Transmission For Modded Cars
I am also very interested to find out when these auto upgrades will be available. Me three Would rather strengthen the tranny before Putting on the Stage 2 kit Peter have you finished developing a engine/transmission oil cooler yet??? We are currently working on oil coolers for both the engine and auto trans, and I am confident that we will have cost effective solutions in the near future. Its really just a question of packaging space for the coolers, from there its a straight foward deal. Peter APS

Aps Phase Ii Feedback
Phase III systems will be available by mid march, we wanted to ensure that the system continued to comply to ADR 79/00 emission standards before releasing the product. We should have the emmision test data later this week and all going to plan phase III product will start flowing early in march. Peter APS

Lack Of Power
tur, Would be worth while to get the car to a good work shop and dyno test the car to see if the full throttle power is in the the expected power range, its amazing what can be diagnosed by a experienced tuner with the right tools and knowledge. Would give you some peace of mind. If you want your car checked by a competent tuner let me know where you reside and I will get you contact details of a tuner who can assist you. Peter APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Hi geea From memory the total exhaust system back pressure at stock power (240Kw) is approx 7 Lbs, and with the centre muffler removed total B/P ia approx 6 to 6.5 Lbs. Most of the B/P is in the engine pipe and stock cat converter (approx 4 to 5 Lbs) this is why APS designed a 3.5'' high flow cat converter as all of the 3'' cat converters we tested are no better than the stock FORD cat converter. The price does not include installation which is approx a 2 hour job, as removing the stock exhaust is time consuming in particular removing the tail pipe rear muffler assembly is difficult. We have one full exhaust system left in stock (most were sold on friday) so let me know ASAP if you want it. Hope this answer all of your questions. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
G'day rapt Phase I takes approx 5 hours from start to finish based on the car being totally stock which includes before and after power graphs. A longer period is required if there are other mods on the engine as you need more cool down time between dyno testing as the engine is making higher power and generating more engine heat/temperature. Let me know if you need any other information. Peter APS

Qestions 4 The Guru
G;day Frank, I only viewed the dyno graph of the final phase III spec system on thursday and the car made approx 330KW at the treads at just under 13 PSI turbo pressure, an amazing result I'm sure you will agree. This was the final state of engine tune which incorporated all the final phase III spec components, tuned and ready for ADR 79/00 emission testing. We should have the results of the emmision tests by next wednesday and we are confident that we will prove continued compliance to the ADR emmision standards for the APS phase III system. The power level of 330KW at the tyres is very pleasing given the low turbo pressure and this is testament to the optimum engineering from APS work shop staff that went into the intercooler, exhaust, and engine management systems. Now I suspect that the turbo pressure required to make the 330Kw will vary a little from engine to engine, all I can say is our development xr6t car made the power at just under 13 PSI on 98 ron shell optimax fuel and I would expect that customer cars should be similar. We have completed testing a number of clutch options and we wil release this information in a few weeks, so keep an eye on our web site for further info. Hope you have enjoyed watching the development of the phase III system, its now time to experience the awesome performance of the APS enhanced xr6t. Peter APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Dave, I doubt that we could make the 330Kw as there is 2 psi back pressure in the stock exhaust exhaust system (after the cat) at 240Kw, at 330Kw (if that was possible) the back pressure would be very ugly and start to cause valve spring problems. This high exhaust back pressure is very tough on pistons, valves, and the cylinder head, as the high thermal loads are the result of a greater volume of hot exhaust gases which can not be expelled quickly enough as a result of the restrictive exhaust system. Bottom line is you dont want any exhaust back pressure in a high powered turbo engine if you can avoid it. I would not recommend this path as it will lead to premature engine problems. Peter APS

Hey Kev, Are you still taking sales calls now that you have nothing to do with that company? Your name and mobile number are listed as the primary contact on the web site. I hope that you're not telling porky pies - and having to wear out the carpet to and from the confessional Peter APS

BK, yes of course all of this data and much more is output live from the com port and is accessible by all trained Authorised dealers. Sorry I cant discuss more on this issue as it is confidential between APS and Authorised unichip dealers by way of contractual agreement. The unichip is installed inside the vehicle behind the passenger side kick panel. Peter APS

No CnC, I did not miss the point. I find it amazing after 20 years of designing and manufacturing intercooler systems that an in-house engineering vehicle is not necessary to design, lab-test, field-test and produce a world-class intercooler system - which the XR6T deserves. Perhaps this is why Australia's aftermarket is flooded with some very ordinary products. The fact that a company sells other intercoolers is irrelevant. You can't adequately develop an intercooler system in one week and expect perfection - particularly with the XR6T, which has unique intercooler requirements. It took APS over 6 months of design and testing - many different intercooler cores, end tank designs and ducting configurations to arrive at the optimum intercooler solution - and we have six full time engineering staff and 3 XR6T Falcon engineering vehicles at our disposal. So, again, I find it difficult to understand how any person could design, lab-test, field-test, perform all the hot/cold weather testing etc by borrowing a car for one week. Not even the Lord himself could accomplish this in seven days. The quality and performance of a product is directly proportional to the engineering effort behind the product - and it takes more than seven days.......... Peter APS

OzWRX, you missed the most vital part of my post: :woahidea: Would pay you to read the entire thread to in order to contribute effectively to the forum. As I have said before, the XR6T is unique in its intercooler requirements and should not be compared to the WRX/STI/GTR/Porsche/etc...etc.... intercooler specifications. Ultimately you need to have control of turbocharger pressure, otherwise you may end up with a major electrical problem. That is the conrod knocking the alternator off the cylinder block - as this is not the desired affect of efficient intercooling. I hope that this clarifies the discussion as we are, after all talking about the Falcon XR6T. Peter APS PS OzWRX, you wouldn't happen to be Kevin who operates hyperflow by any strange coincidence? The same Kevin who first posted on this forum 10 days ago and opened with this smelly statement about the mighty XR6T:
