Pretty sure it was strapped down properly, they certainly spent some time underneith it. Yeah Im happy with it, just need to get some km's into it and learn the new shift points.

My F6 Tornado was with Barry last saturday. Standard F6 with just the custom tune and got 260rwkw. Not bad considering the 32degree heat in the dyno room! Very happpy with it!!

I got a Herrod Stealth for my F6 Tornado. I received the full refund last week. End of story.
-
Maybe I am driving it differently, but all I know is that when im idling around in 1st and 2nd I dont feel the lash anymore between the gears as I come on and off throttle slightly. I guess I have 'learnt' how to drive the clutch alot more since day 1
-
Yeah I cant wait for the tune, I'll be giving Barry a call and hopefully it can be done very soon.
-
hehe surprised I hadn't seen it already. Yeah without the hardtop it just wouldn't be the same. Very glad with the options I chose. The rear has dropped probably 20mm yeah, maybe 25mm. The front perhaps 10mm if that. Little dissapointed with the front actually Yesterday I was turning and an idiot in a VY SS ute yells out 'missing 2 cylinders mate' I wish I was going slower around the corner, he would of been met with a 'still got more valves than you' or 'still more power' etc etc

Cheers guys. Ive got the Herrods Lowering Kit on it, from memory it's close to a grand. You could probably get it lower and a better deal looking elsewhere.

Recently got my Tornado lowered and got the new plates a few weeks ago. Here are some pics taken yesterday in all its glory. Its done almost 3500kms now and it's given me more pleasure than I thought it ever would. Mechanically I'm really happy with it, the transmission lash has pretty much dissapeared and the knocks and bumps from the diff aren't nearly as noticeable. The clutch feels beautiful to engage, each and every gear glides in (a little notchy in 1st when cold for the first 5minutes) and since I got it lowered it sticks to the road around the corners without a worry and still retains its nice driveability - never scraped it on a speedhump (yet). Ive often thought about puting TransmaxZ in it but the more I drive it the more I don't think it really needs it. I'm sure there will be an improvement if I do, but why bother when its great how it is?! The only thing I wish I got was Brembos. The standard FPV brakes do the job, but I wouldnt want to have the tray fully laden and need to stop on a dime. I have a bad case of squeeky front driver brake that gives me the sh*ts, but more spirited braking helps that. Great car to drive, couldnt be happier with it!

I had a less than spectacular experience with the Herrod Stealth. Look elsewhere.

I have a Herrod lowering Kit on my Tornado and I have yet to scrape on anything. It's definitely not dumped to the guts, but it has a nice ride-height that handles great. I would like to go lower as I think the front could still go another 20mm down but I hate scraping so tending to keep it as it is.

Well I lived in Manjimup for 2 years a while ago... does that count?

Mate awesome vid. Definitely sounds more potent than a standard F6!

nice mate, sits awesome

It was probably stolen

Chirping into 3rd sure is fun!

Yes, stronger rods and valve springs.

hehe cheers mate Yeah I didn't know about the leather manuals. It seemed they went missing and no-one owned up :/ As long as I get a replacement set I'll be happy. I noted the displaced door on that checklist and if I had time and less dilemma I would of inspected the vehicle before delivery and got them to do it then. Ohwell it's noted and will be fixed when I go back for some Herrod action. MercuryF6 yeah what you've described is pretty much what I have with my door. I also had a close look at the colour difference between the panels/guards/tray and it was all pretty much dead-on with the Mercury Silver. No mismatched shades of paint to be seen.
-
Cheers Greg. I havent even bothered taking it out today... shocking weather. Things will be interesting after the edit, hehe I can't wait. For some reason however the leather bound manuals etc were missing. McInerney will be providing me with a new set. Is there a special FPV pack that I should ensure I receive rather than a standard Ford one?

After 2 months of pain and agony I finally picked up my Mercury Silver F6 Tornado lastnight. Options: Leather, FPV mats @ steering wheel, Hardcover Well I am very very impressed. Got there and did a thorough inspection and although it was difficult to look at the panels and paint because of the sh*tty weather I was happy with what I saw. The interior was very nicely finished and very flush. The only gripe I have is that the alignment of the front door and front quarter panel isn't 100%. Ive noted it down on the pre-inspection papers so that will be attended to. Driving it is an absolute dream. My god the power is fantastic. Coming from an EF XR8 slug this thing is a slingshot as soon as it hits 2500-3000rpm. Very very impressed with the power delivery. It does run out of puff higher in the rev range, but I really didn't get an opportunity to give it much stick because of the wet roads and peak hour traffic coming through the CBD. The clutch feels absolutely brilliant. Could not be happy with the feel of it. Not too heavy not too light. Ive been hearing about the gearbox and how people really find it tought to shift but my 6speed is consistantly smooth and easy to shift through all gears. Lovely to drive. There is a slight gearbox whine in 2nd but Im not complaining at all. Nothing compared to a WRX driveline. That was my biggest concern really, how the gearbox would behave and feel like. But to my surprise it feels absolutely fantastic. There is a slight notchy feeling but nothing compared to my old toploader and the 6speed has no problem fitting into any of the gears, it's a real breeze. There has only been one time I heard a lash in the driveline, I gave it a nice feed in 1st then came off the throttle immediately and heard a little lash in the gearbox. Nothing to winge about however. So after 60km I am totally wrapped with my F6 Tornado. The Mercury Silver looks brilliant. Pics will be coming in a few weeks after I get it lowered and get the Stealth fitted

Yep that's right. Bloody useless f@*ks some people are. I SHOULD be picking it up today (or monday... who knows) But yeah cheers, edit will be fitted in a few weeks so I'll speak to you before then!

Nice review mate. Im looking forward to giving mine a thorough working out when I pick up my Tornado tomorrow! Finally. Having heard about the difference in brakes in both #11 and #31, it'll be interesting to see how my #96 will fare. Can't wait but!

Ive been dealing with Centre Ford quite alot with my 95 EF XR8 and had mixed results. I think the negativity comes from just believing they charge way too much, but having said that they fixed most of problems with not too much trouble. A few months ago however I had to return it twice after a standard service because they failed to see a wire not connected to the MAF. But they recently pulled one of the the heads off (XR8) and machined it along with the 8 valves after a horror run with Ultra Tune and its now running great. No real complaints, but not totally convinced to want to recommend them to someone.

Yeah good write-up mate... nice read. Congrats on the awesome mods!

Swanga what dealer fixed it for you?
