  1. Still +1 for r/weldporn though
  2. Nice! How'd you stop it pulling over? Can't see any tack spots?
  3. TIL - Helium for TIG welding Aluminium. Never knew. Back in the day, ya just grabbed some old fencing wire and the trusty oxy-acet rig and burnt away. Steel only though - NO ONE welded aluminium. That was devils work.
  4. Giving Stablebit a trial on my backup servers (Shadow Protect FIR boxes) looks nice so far. What controller did you end up with?
  5. I don't understand - WHY does diff oil smell so bad? Gun oil = Good smell Diff oil = Oh god get that sh*t off me smell
  6. Filthiest day at work - dropping the starter motors out of Cummins powered Kenworths. Filthiest day at home - probs fitting up power steering to my old XT ute. Filthiest evening.....
  7. Used to be an auto spark, worked on lotsa stock floats.....got shat on fixing those stinkin piles a lot🚛 🐑 💩(emojis for clarity)
  8. No, not really - it's old, low res and power hungry. TBH I don't even know if it will be any good lit up as it will shine upwards - may end up being useful as a tracing table or just as a cool but completely useless project. I figure at worst, it'll be a nice solid smooth heavy desktop space.
  9. Well. Skid Factory too... Water cooling would be a fun project but I need some deskspace. Am actually thinking of building a workbench/office desk out of an old 42" plasma TV - it still works (just, blown caps so shes a little iffy) so could even light the thing up for extra mood. Have looked around to see if anyones done anything similar but have only found infinity-type coffee tables made from old plasmas. Anyone here got thoughts on this?
  10. Me wanty too. Then I remembered my GPU is a tired old 950gtx. And I barely get time to do anything other than MCM and Cleetus YT vids...
  11. Love it when the only morning I play daddy day care, my works PDC decides to drop its time serving abilities and break the everything. Phone calls, nappies, snotty noses and hectic VPN dial ins abounded. Coffee time.
  12. That ending though.....do NOT google and find out!! Just watch it...
  13. Random useless fact- Old school farmers used to say "by the sun" when telling the time since they couldn't handle daylight savings at all "Yeah it's about half past 4 by the sun, time for a cuppa tea" Never got anything done working with my old man....
  14. I likey. Esp the rears. More pics?
  15. Somewhere on the Murray still in SA? As an ex country guy stuck in the city I'd loooooooove to know where this is? (assuming it's a rental something and you're not actually living there)
  16. Probs won't hurt to check your charge rate - load alternator up with lights on high, AC on etc and make sure she holds 13.8+V no higher than 15. Also doesn't hurt to check for battery drain, FG's do draw a bit of current for a short while after locking, but will settle down. Anything higher than ~100mA after 15 mins needs checking out. 20-30 mins daily should be fine if charge rate and drain are ok.
  17. Funnily enough, I know of 3 FG's that as the batteries were failing, the AC would stop working. New battery and suddenly perfectly working ac. Seems system voltage would drop too low on cranking and the computer wouldn't allow the ac to switch on. This happened to my ute and two non turbo sedans. If you daily runs are too short you can run your battery down. Maybe the new unit needs a good charge if it was never fully charged to begin with?
  18. Yeah exactly - one of the biggest slow downs to any build I've seen has been variations to a standard builders plan. To-ing and fro-ing between builder and council and owner just leads to mixups and drama. And extra months and unhappy people everywhere. It's good to find a builder who will let you do all that - if you guys have the skills its great they'll let you do it. Biggest thing will be getting a good supervisor you can both work with - sounds like you've got it all covered though - good luck! also - make sure you cable it up for decent internet access everywhere
  19. Ahh lol that makes it simpler! Good luck n don't let them slack off on the build (or council doing approvals - some are better than others - pre-constructions not my dept I'm just the IT guy lol)
  20. House looks awesome! Hopefully council doesn't stall too long - do you have neighbors that could complain about two story? I'm kinda involved in the home building game and have heard some horror stories about houses that get approved then other folks kick up a stink and cause MAJOR drama.
  21. I need a proper shed, there's far to much awesome stuff happening in this thread for my dodgy driveway setup
  22. He was close LOL and I'm SO looking forward to it! Even though we're only going mild, it'll still be fun @jollyjim81 yeah I thought mine might be too till it fell onto the ground - scraping my driveway everyday for 4 years I think just over stressed the flange crease and it cracked thru completely.
  23. Since I'd just done the front rotors and pads I figured I should do the rears too. The factory units had already been skimmed once from warpage and were acting up again. So a set of T2's and Remsa pads were thrown on. Got to here without too much drama... Then I noticed that the top slider pin was doing anything but - totally seized in. After MUCH cursing bashing twisting sweating and general mahem the little bastard came out. Did the other side with zero dramas which was nice cuz I was way over it by then lol I'm now wondering how much that stuck pin was causing the brake pulsing issues. Love brakes almost as much as exhausts....
  24. I'm in the same boat- except I had to do the cat replacement when my factory unit literally broke off- now learning to exercise a light right foot and it's harder than I thought it would be! Also got the engine warning lamp as Puffwagon said. Just waiting in line now for the tooooon to happen [emoji16]
  25. Yeah in SA they just seem a little more creative with the body disposal
