When I wrote them last night I pretty much imagined it as going along a nizpro/aps route stock being, you just got the car/you dont want to spend much on it Modified your probably half way in between a phaze 1-2 pro modified your on par for a phaze 3 unlimited you have a wallet that could feed a small nation so given that Valve springs are pretty common at a phaze 1/2 level then I would be inclined to see them permited in the modified class but not in the stock class (not that you would need them) The other question I would like to pose is should the Typhoon compete with the XR6 in the stock and modified brackets (as it comes factory fitted with upgraded internals) or should it compete at these 2 levels in its own class? Dynowog, The problem with the 2 classes, (unopened vs opened) is that there are alot of cars at the extremities, Its nice to somewhat take things in baby steps, compete in stock you then move up into modified and then on to pro modified and so on, it means that everybody no matter how much or how little has someway of being competitive in a category.

Okay here is my pitch at this... I have no drag racing experience I just no what I read so please forgive if something does not seem correct and at the moment I am only dealling with the XR6's XR6 NA STOCK All modifications to ENGINE AND DRIVELINE that do not include forced induction are permited. Modification (EDIT) or bending (Piggyback) of the ECU is NOT permited. Tyre choice should be of street legal tyres only, Slicks are not permited. Car must compete using standard pump (ULP/PULP) fuel with no ocatane boosters (including NOS). The car must maintain full length exhaust system. XR6 NA MODIFIED All modifications to ENGINE AND DRIVELINE that do not include forced induction are permited. Modification (EDIT) or bending (Piggyback) of the ECU is permited. Tyre choice should be of street legal tyres only, Slicks are not permited. Car must compete using standard pump (ULP/PULP) fuel with no ocatane boosters (including NOS). The car must maintain full length exhaust system. XR6 SUPERCHARGED There are no restrictions in this class other then that the car must be SUPERCHARGED and/or using NOS. Turbocharged either factory or aftermarket xr6's are not permited in this class XR6 TURBO STOCK Bolt on modifications to the Engine are permited. The engine must maintain standard engine internals. Gearbox strengthening is permited , all factory gear ratios must be maintained. Modification to the Diff gear ratios is not permited. XR6 TURBO MODIFIED Bolt on modifications to the Engine are permited. The engine must maintain standard engine internals. Gearbox strengthening is permited , all factory gear ratios must be maintained. Modification to the Diff gear ratios is not permited. Modification (EDIT) or bending (Piggyback) of the ECU is permited. Tyre choice should be of street legal tyres only, Slicks are not permited. Car must compete using standard pump (ULP/PULP) fuel and maintain full length exhaust system. XR6 TURBO PRO MODIFIED Bolt on modifications to the Engine are permited. The engine internals may be modified in any way. The engine must maintain a Garrett 35/40 Turbo however modifications to this turbo are permited. Gearbox strengthening is permited, Modification to the Diff gear ratios is permited. Modification (EDIT) or bending (Piggyback) of the ECU is permited. Tyre should be of street legal tyres or Slicks. Car must compete using standard pump (ULP/PULP) fuel and maintain full length exhaust system. XR6 TURBO UNLIMITED There are no limits/restrictions for this class. XRT UTE the reality is that pulling your interior out to perform a run probably takes more effort then what some of the classes will ever warrant, ie: if somebody wants to go buy a XR... a month latter puts a k&n and a cold air intake on there car then goes to the effort of pulling all there interior out just so they can take the XR6 Turbo Stock class then in my mind they deserve the fastest time
  4. You know the more I think about this the more I realise what this country is missing, we have the media, the RTA/govenment, the pedestrian council all belittling the auto enthusiasts/drivers with there constant wash of BS yet the only entity representing motorists to some extent in this country is a commercial INSURANCE company (NRMA). There is nobody representing P platers, nobody speaking out against the mundane road rules in this country, no body speaking out against the crap we are served with in regards to our public roads and even plonky will admit that the HWP are not exactly up to scratch in this part of town. There are shooters parties, recreation parties, fishing parties got a problem? there is bound to be a party for that aswell. so why the hell is there not a drivers party? I know I would vote for them in the hope that somebody would get off there ass and fix the problems! end rant #2
  5. I havnt got it, it *may* have been put in to try to save the clutch, I am guessing that ford could not handle having another clutch issue so wanted to try to limit the amount of abuse it gets...
  6. I am a P plater, I am 23, I drive a modified XR6 Turbo! now am I biased against this legislation or more informed? How many here who comment on how easy it is to get there licence have had to do a knowledge test, 50 hours of logged driving with a licensed adult? pass a driver evaluation and a simulated hazard perception test in the last 3 years? not to mention live in this camera crazy city with 7 demerit points for 2 years? Think about this.. double demerits scare the living crap out of all regular drivers, yet a driver on there red P's who gets booked for doing less then 15kph over the speed limit will have there licence suspended for 3 months during double demerits (3 points x 2 = licence gone).. now think about the same P plater in a single lane 100-110 zone with bumper to bumper traffic behind them because they can only go 90kph, do any of you realise how dangerose this situation is? whats the first thing everybody does when it hits double lanes? speeds up overtakes and tries get away from the "bloody p-plater".. remember not all accidents involving p-platers are caused by the p-plater! I dare you to put a p-plate on your car and watch the abuse you get from other motorists, The increased attention you get from the police and tell me if you would want to wear a big sticker on your car for 2 years that says "I am a hoon, I cant drive and I am about to have an accident". last week, call it bad luck call it what you want but in 1 hour I was pulled over 4 times by different officers for a RANDOM breath test... hello? I am a p-plater I cant even smell alcohole before driving, (0.00 BAL) it certainly did not feel very random... but the police wouldnt target p-platers now would they? Not with the attention the media has been painting lately The thing with your licence is that everybody is right, It is not hard to get.. 50 hours doesnt seem like that long, its only a few trips up that 110kph freeway.. at 80kph, a few hours stuck in afternoon traffic (after school) and the occasional night drive, when your parents really feel like taking you driving after a hard day at work.. Then you get to the driver test, I am not going to say this is hard, its not really (I passed first attempt) The hazard perception test is THE biggest waste of $100 I have ever seen.... seriously next time you are in the RTA office ask if you can do it just for fun.. its a joke and should not be part of the licensing scheme, In my mind this is just a govenment tax on the young. When I got my P's I was given the keys to a ford focus 1.8l because I wanted to buy a XY 351.. the focus had airbags and ABS the XY had none... 2 years latter I still wanted the XY.. but the old lady ever so careing did not want me getting it, "you are not driving around in a 30 year old piece of ...." was her exact words, I had the money to buy the XY, my mum would not stop me from buying it, she knows I have loved that car for the last 18 years (seriously) but she put a better offer on the table, an equally quick if not quicker car but a safer car the deal was, she would organise the lease but I would have to pay for it... so $600 per month I give her for her to know that in the event that I do get into an emergancy situation she atleast knowes I have traction control, ABS and most importantly duel airbags. Now at the end of this 2 years (22months away) I will not be buying the XY I will be buying the XR. This leads me into my fundamental beliefs on why P platers will allways be more at risk... how many p-platers are there comparitavly driving around in claped out old pieces of sh!t... not many 17-25 year olds can afford 20K+ for a new car.. so they buy second hand cars, you only have to look at the improvementts year to year to see that the older the car you drive the more at risk you are of being injured in the even of an accident. The statistics say they are 17% more likely to be involved in a fatal accident... yet where are the studies showing why they are 17% more likely to be involved in a fatal accident? strangely enough there are none, The media has showcased a few exceptionaly stupid cases and displayed every p-plater related death of recent months, yet nobody is looking at the driving behaviours of p-platers (beyond the "hooligans" on A Current Affairs) and this is why the statistics wont drop (unfortunatly) sorry for the long rant... this topic just annoys me because the chrome domes in parliment are going about it all the wrong way and the general masses are nodding there heads going about time something is being done, when the fact is that it is a band aid situation that the govenment knows wont work

  8. "If the HWP were doing what the should be doing (patrolling, targeting modified cars driven by hoodlums etc) then the Council wouldn't have to introduce this sort of restriction that affects everybody." I am guessing you havn't been down to the rocks during "the weekend circuit", the HWP are there all the time, the problem is that 99% of the time nobody is doing anything illegal, they hand out a few yellow cards RBT everybody and that's all they can do because people dont go down there to do burnouts/stupid stuff.. they go down there to show off/admirer there cars.
  9. did ford pinch the colour consultant from holden? MANgenta (torana) <?> MENace
  10. I'm just waiting for the silly bugga that strips a BA down to the bones, tubbs the rear adds a 9inch and borrows spikos or brians engine for a day (sounds easy doesnt it)

19's with stock ride height probably would have looked better and made scrapping less likely
  13. iTec replied to BLK6T's topic in XR6 Turbo
One thing I am guessing is that the T will get the phoon clutch.. way to much money was spent on it just to be used in one low volume vehicle, you spread that cost out amongst the higher selling T and it becomes a little more feasible.
  14. I wonder where they will go for there honeymoon? ?
  15. iTec replied to a post in a topic in General Automotive Talk
6 classes seems a little over the top.... 1) Stock - no edit/piggybacks. This would allow for limited mods, such as CAI/filter/exhaust (No NOS/race fuel) 2) Modified - Stock Internals this would allow any and all mods that do not open the engine (NO NOS/race fuel) 3) Pro Modified - do what you want but must use the factory turbo.. (NOS/race fuel PERMITED) 4) Unlimited - open to any BA 6 running non factory turbo (NOS/race fuel PERMITED)

ahhh guys just remember that they can not show *performance*... not unless they want to cop a flogging by the know it alls at the pedestrian council
  17. ahh the good ol RC cars, you buy the bas*ard for 500 bucks, 4 bodyshels, 10 sets of tyres 16 litres of fuel and 4 engines (1 x tg10 3 x tg15) you realise that it is probably cheaper to go buy a real car and do burnouts in that. my Tamiya is not beig played with so I can afford to spend money on the XR.. kinda sad really
  18. Name a time and a place (not the coffs cruise) and ill turn up
  19. Just wack a FPV badge on this... http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?f...php&carnum=1796 its the only thing that would get me out of the T
  20. Thanks everybody for a great day looking forward to the next one...
  21. its all the foon owners driving around in the GT's they dont want

  23. Okay so on wednesday I took my car in for its first service, I asked the guys to fix the door locks because they are randomly locking and unlocking whilst driving and has even occured whilst the car has been parked with the keys out of the ignition (filling up at a servo). Anyway on the wensday they got a little confused over my alarm system and thought that it was non genuine, so the locks remained faulty. The tech guys spoke to the dealer for my car and he insisted that the alarm was a genuine ford alarm so they should be able to fix it, so the car went in again today so they could have a look around and hopefully fix the things. As I was driving down to the service centre (less then 1K from my house) I pushed the door lock/unlock button (above the tissues) and to my amazement the thing bloody worked (normally you push it and nothing happens). So I figured that there going to have no luck because the bloody thing is working anyway I drop the car off and get a phone call latter in the day saying that I can come pick the car up but they have been unable to locate the problem (doh) and that when it starts occuring next I am to bring the car straight in and get them to take a look (fair enuff) anyway they seem to lock/unlock at anytime, if the car is stationary, moving, hits a bump, I blink, burp or fart so tonight I jump in the car drive about 20m and the doors lock, the buttons not working and if I take it back to the dealers tommorow the bloody thing will work perfectly. now that I have had a b**ch and explained my problem can somebody tell me what it is that is stuffed? Has anybody else had this experience?
