I was going to say silicon, but then itd be a bitch to revarnished..so maybe a waterproof rubber seal? with a heap of bolts and nulon nuts to hold it down and not come off? all hidden under a stainless steel lip/edge of course!

yeh that was my other concern, if your going to actually use the tray, it may annoy u if it starts getting marked, dinted, scratched. but even if u dont id still go the hardwood. bit more weight will look sweet with the name in it. I already have pictures in my head haha
