  1. Unfortunatly the oil inlet is a very small hole 1- 1.5mm, and oil contamination is a massive problem on the GT35's.Two problems are the inlet hole becoming blocked/ and or carbon getting into the bearing pack through the inlet, also the oil inlet holes do not match up with the oil grooves on the bearing pack on the 35's. This causes the bearing pack to run dry over time and create a greater friction between surfaces. Unfortunatly because it is getting some sort of oil supply garrett will not take this as a warranty claim. Ball bearing packs dont need much oil compared to journal bearing turbo's but they still need a consistant flow/adequate supply. take the oil inlet supply off and check the top of the inlet on the bearing housing if its covered with carbon/burnt oil then you have a problem. Hope this helps. pm if you want some more info.
  2. Yes this can be achieved, machining the front cover to suit. Would highly recommend upgrading to the .70 cover though. contact mta turbo 5596 1079 for more info. It does help highly if your xr6 is getting into the higher bands of hp range. cheers james
  3. Billet turbo chargers run a inconel based turbine wheel which is a stronger material which can withstand more pressure, heat and general thomping. Also using a silicon nitrade ball bearing system which is 58% lighter some rediculous amount harder and a higher heat withstanding 600degrees higher from memory. definatelty worth the upgrade, they have seen faster spool rates of up to 15%. If your chasing any info on the billet stuff you can contact me directly or pm me cheers James
  4. Never buy a second hander, from what ive seen the oil gallories dont match up to the oil grooves in the bearing back. As the result of mine was this and was shown the heat marks. get a mr turbo CHRA exactly the same as standard gt35 but upgraded bearing system with direct oil inlet for the bearings. Will fit straight into the standard housings. Hope this helps pm for any info.
  5. Check www.mtaturbo.com marks the guy 5596 1079 they do all valve flapper mods, new chra with silicon nitrade bearings, larger front covers etc. very competetive pricing. helped me out a lot!
