Three couples, one elderly, one middle aged and one newlywed, present to the local priest, asking to join his congregation! The priest replies "that should be OK, but as we have had a lot of applications recently, we have decided to put new applicants through a small test! "What sort of test" ask the couples, "well I want you all to abstain from sex for two weeks, and then come back and tell me how you went" replies the priest. Two weeks pass, and the first couple to come to the priest, is the elderly couple, "how did you go" asks the priest, "no problem" replies the guy, two weeks was easy! "Welcome to the congregation" replies the priest. Next is the middle aged couple, "how did you go" asks the priest. "Well replies the guy, the first week was easy, but the second week, I had to sleep on the couch just to make sure, but we got through the two weeks OK" "Welcome to the congregation" replies the priest Last it is the newlywed couple, and again the priest ask "how did you go" the young man looks down slightly embarassed, "well the first week was quite easy, but then on the 11th day, my wife dropped a can of peas on the floor, and as she stood there in front of me, bent over and everything, lust just got the better of me, and I had to have her there and then", "well I am sorry to hear that son, I am afraid you will not be welcome in our congregation!" "No" replies the young man, "Coles are not too keen to see us again either!!"
  2. Had the same thought Would be interested if cost was not prohibitive.

Good stuff Do you know if it will fit the XR6T, the original filter on your pic. looks similar to mine. Who sells this in WA, and how much did it set you back (if you don't mind me asking)
  4. How are we doing for numbers? Is the Dyno on or not on Friday?
  5. Lightning, sorry to hear to of your troubles, sounds really weird. Not sure if the Body Control Module looks after all the lights you are seeing on your car, but a visit to your dealer sounds like a good idea Who did you buy it from?

so basically what we need a bleed valve for the turbo to raise boost and then something to trick the pressure senser that everything is still stock.... then everything you take it into be service you remove the valve and ford would be nun the wiser.... correct?? Dave. I guess if you wanted to go to that trouble you could. There are however a couple of wires spliced into the wiring harness, but I guss if you wanted, you could assemble them all in a plug, then all you would have to do is unplug the "boost box" and re-establish the hose conections to the wastegate.

Here's the long awaited Dyno for my XR6T. The red lines are before and the blue after mods. The "M" line is boost, and the "P" line is power.
  10. Congratulations Did a longish trip today myself, to York and back to have my CAPA stage 1 kit fine tuned and Dynoed, Wooonderful B)

We did the final Dyno testing today, and anded up with 200 KW exactly @ 8.3 PSI. The problem with optimising further, is that after the first run, the ECU detects higher oil temp. and start winding things back. Second run the boost is significantly lower, and if we keep trying, it just gets slower and slower. It appears that oil cooler is a must if top level performance is to be maintained over longer periods, to keep the oil temp. under control. If you read some of the shootout test done with the XR6T, you will have noticed that they also only got 1 or 2 good runs, and from there the XR6T just got slower and slower. Last night (cool night at 10 degrees C.), I went out on the outskirts of Perth to test my brakes (they have a pretty bad shudder), and did 4 runs from 0 kmh to fairly high (not promoting speeding here), then hit the brakes hard, floored it again and so on. By the last run, I could hardly feel the CAPA modification, as I imagine the boost had been reduced to near standard levels by the ECM. Cooling is definitely an issue on this car, and one that must be addressed if you plan to increase the power. I plan to fit water spray and oil cooler at the end of winter.

    Steady now
  13. Of course you are right, thanks for pointing that out. I did not intend to give the impression that this was a way of obtaining more power
  14. The increase you felt in power could be caused by less resistance by the piping and air cleaner element, as the pipe you describe having fallen off is the turbo suction pipe. I haven't had any such problems myself

Today I have added my own cold air intake, which runs an additional intake pipe from the standard airbox, through under the headlight, to suck additional cold air from behind the front bumper. To get the shape, I purchased a 400 mm long piece of 100 mm dia. PVC sewer pipe, which I then heated and shaped into the correct shape. The flange to blind rivet the pipe onto the airbox, was formed by heating the end of the final flat pipe, and then flaring it out and cooling it to hold the shape. The best part, the pipe cost me $ 3.80, so all up it's probably a total cost of $ 5.00. I am attaching some photos if you are interested.

Being an auto, Mark estimates about 200 - 210 rwkw (173 rwkw measured before mods) Driving it, well what can I say B) I think it now drives the way it should when it leaves Ford! Sound is a little more determined, turbo comes on much stronger, but also much smoother, giving the feeling of thrust right through the entire range. Bottom end feels a lot stronger, and when I plant my foot, well it's TAKEOFF :D Worth every cent in my opinion

The boost kit (boost box + rising rate regulator) was $ 1386 + $ 300 fitting and Dyno. 3" Mandrel bent all stainless exhaust & high flow cat (Turbo back) $ 1287 + $ 50 fitting. Freight was $ 50 All up $ 3108.00 incl. GST and fitting. I will be going back tomorrow morning (Saturday) for final tune.
  20. Could be fun, count me in I think it would be interesting to see how my "T" measures up against standard auto's - Who knows I may walk away crying, and demanding my money back BUT I DON'T THINK SO, COZ SHE'S A ROCKET NOW :D

So much for mellow yellow  Welcome to the XR6T owners of WA, and congratulations on you new car. I drive an Acid Rush XR6T, and though it is not quite as "loud" as the Citric Acid, I get a lot of looks as well B) Enjoy your new ride immensely
  22. I agree, that's what I am finding as well! Well maybe a bit more than 5 mins of driving, but eventually the temp does come down somewhat. A bit annoying, as the aircon does cost performance, and at speed it gets a bit noisy with the windows down.
