  1. The VDO hub is a better option at under half the $ than the Alpine Unit, Regards M G
  2. F6 Ute, not sure what the latest developments with Goldbullet is in regards to the plenum. To date I haven't had any issues with it but we are only running the system on an easy 16psi for the 385rwkw. Plans will see us playing with the power over the next couple of days to push that up a little. If there are any developments I will post them up. I will also get Spiro to check through Croydon if they have had any issues with any of the Plenums that have gone out. Regards M G
  3. Just a quick update on your notes Falchoon, I am running the new Nitto plenum hooked upto the APS cooler with no issues. I have been informed it can cope with 500rwkw. But as mentioned there are a lot of options out there, the APS one in my belief is definitely one of the best though. Good luck on the hunt and let us know what setup you eventually end up with. Regards M G
  4. Heh thought about the offer for about 10 nano seconds. Thanks though SavageD. Next step for the coming week is replacing the in tank fuel pump as well as playing with the shift points in the gearbox. Then it should be ready for a power tune and possibly a couple of tester runs at WSID. Regards M G
  5. Yep I agree meshman does a good job. Regards M G
  6. Dominello offer a few options, I have had mine rebuilt there which was the Stage 2, the stage 1 was somewhere around 1400-1500. I ran 300+ on the stage 1 with no problems and only went stage 2 with the increase in power to over 350rwkw. Regards M G
  7. I wondered what that draft was Who needs money when we can go fast.... Gearbox back in with some new mods to help the Shift (not sure what was done yet). A stronger spring also went into the external wastegate. Back on the road Thurs/Friday. Next week the fuel issues will be addressed, Fuel Pump and/or surge tank. Regards M G
  8. Ben, The hoses are just blingage anyway Not sure yet on the fuel pump setup, still have the original in tank as well as one inline which we are looking at upgrading, no surge tank as yet but its also on the drawing board, so that might affect how we set the fuel pumps up. Regards M G
  9. I am happy with how its all come together, the problem is of course the more you do the more you see you can do, Still there a few little items already on the way including: red hose to replace the blue, the filer box (being painted), a cover for the new manifold (showing the turbo front housing and wastegate), as well as a shield to cover the ABS. Power wise its awesome, the turbo is on boost from 1500rpm and there is no real lag, its far quicker than the old standard unit. The tune was held at 385rwkw at 16psi as we maxed out the fuel pump and will be shortly replacing that with a bigger unit. Also the gearbox is coming out to get a few new harder parts to cope with the extra low down grunt. On the road it starts, runs and drives like standard except for the hint of induction noise even at low revs, of course when you push the loud pedal it takes you into a new time zone. At this stage I am putting 500km on before we install the new pump, and gearbox mods then its another tune for something over 400, looking at pushing boost somewhere near 21-23psi. XRdrift: PM sent Rboksic: Computer has been moved to the kickpanel inside where there is a perfect space to fit it in. More news over the next week on how the final mods/tune go. Then its out to the track sometime in September to play with times over the 1/4 Regards M G
  10. Well just picked Shahin up from Autotech and I will post a more detailed break down on how he goes later tonite or tomorrow. Not 100% complete and full tuning is planned for next week but with 385rwkw at 16psi initial feeling is Whoaaaaaa.. Engine detail work not quite finished but close, latest photo below. Regards M G
  11. Alpine RRP $999, VDO RRP $399 (plus $79 Remote), no comparo in my opinion, now to find a good installer to get this hooked up Regards M G

    Braided Hose Kits?

Having just completed the braiding of all the visual hoses, I would recommend using Earls in Sydney. They will braid the hoses for you pretty much in a day. I would recommend though getting a new set of the hoses through ford and get those braided, a much better job on new hoses. Regards M G
  13. Its very approximate depending on car but you can work on around 17% drive train loss in a manual and 20% loss on an auto. So based on 238.1rwkw you would have approx 297.6fwkw. Regards M G
  14. Phoon 6 speed is the same box as the 'T' both the ZF. From early reports it looks like it will be a costly process to get them modded. Regards M G
  15. It seems over the recent couple of months that more and more people are both providing better looking parts for the XR6T as well as using them to make their T's look as good as they go. With additions like Phoon's Silicone hoses & computer cover, all the AWC gear, Miss Aly's gauges, the PWR Metal water tank, it is getting to be a regular smorgasboard of new gear to make our T's stand out. The question is though what is missing and what do we want next? What items do you think have been overlooked? Regards M G
  16. Brian, I can agree on the ricers/other cars that go out there and I am always happy to appreciate the effort that goes into other modded cars whilst maintaining my blue oval fondness. Of course that being said most still get a shock with the guy in the 'Silver Service Taxi' puts the pedal to the metal. Not sure on top end power, will see how it all comes together next week and I will post up a drivability or lack thereof report once I get to take Shahin for a spin. Just hope the wet goes away before then. Regards M G
  17. Jeff, I guess the answer isn't a clear one. I fall into the category where I am not really seeking ultimate power nor the best 1/4 time. I am happy to chuck the car on a dyno and of course a decent figure is always good and I am happy to chuck it down the 1/4 and a decent figure there is also good (ok ok a 10 would be nice). However these mods aren't aimed at 1 or the other in particular. The Turbo upgrade was more due to the fact my old one died and it was almost the same dollars to get the new gear and have the same or similar power with lower boost and less stress on the car. The new plenum was one of those crazy moments where I was looking at a empty engine bay and asked Spiro about cleaning up the engine bay and suddenly the plenum looked like a good step as well. So I think I fall into the category of being a Turbo owner that just loves his ride, wants the best set up, likes leaving Ricers or others for dust when required and is happy to pull a decent number and 1/4 time. Couple with enough income to throw it onto a Ford product and create something different. Long winded but I think covers the important points. Regards M G
  18. Ok latest pictures, car is still on track to have most work complete and running on Monday ready for final tuning. As you can see a few more bits and pieces added with still more to come. There are a couple of custom items that will take a little while to add, a shield across the back of the engine bay covered the ABS wiring, a shield over the dump pipe/manifold area, as well as a custom cover to go on the rocker cover - as mick said its fugly with the parts missing. Pictures show the manifold closer, the new plenum and a general front shot. Regards M G
  19. F6 Ute, heh already on the plans, there is still a way to go on parts to be replaced and or polished. I will update with more pictures as they come to light. Will also see about some different angles. At this stage hoping to have the engine clean up mods complete by Monday/Tuesday then onto final tuning. Regards M G
  20. Just one question about this car, its mentioned it is running the the APS plenum. As far as I was aware there was only 1 made and its still on the APS Phase 4 ute.. Having tried to get one of these myself in the past. Just interested in knowing if this is a actual or the actual APS plenum.. Good luck to the guy and car in running some good times. Regards M G
  21. Engine in and some of the cosmetics done, updated picture included. Not selling it now, the issues that were causing the sale have been resolved and power wise I really have no idea but I would guess somewhere around the 400ish mark on normal fuel. Regards M G
  22. Shahin has been off the road for just on 2 months with a number of projects being done, the major one of course the installation of the new Turbo/Manifold/External Wastegate, also while the engine was out I decide to add the New Nitto Plenum and clean up the engine bay. Amongst the engine cleanups are relocating the battery to the boot, braided hoses all round, the factory computer being moved to the cabin, etc, etc.. A quick picture of the new setup before it goes back in later tonite. Regards M G
  23. Go on do it, WIPLSH has to have one of the THE best sounding 'T's on the road, forget the whiny fuel pump (he likes it) and the whiny gearbox (straight cut gears) the quad system is excellent.. Regards M G
  24. Welcome to the Nut house and the addiction others call XR6Turbo's... Regards M G
  25. I run up to 360+rwkw through my 4 speed and it was modded through Autotech, they use Dominello for all their Auto tran work. Regards M G
