  1. The Hayman Reese ones certainly do, check their website to confirm part numbers. Just make sure that it's for an XR as the "hitch box" is longer so the receiver sits rearwards of the rear bar. You can ask my dealer if you don't believe me (as they fitted the wrong one first).
  2. Well obviously I'm not bright, as I interpreted your statement the same as Tab did. And don't the FPV wheels run the same offset / backspace as the Ford ones, or do their vehicles run a wider track? I thought it was the design of the wheel, not the offset, that prevented them clearing the Brembo's? Hasn't the F6X got 18"s ?
  3. I can assure you, the FG XR 18" "Y" mags will not clear 4 pot Brembo's, as the wheel spokes won't clear the caliper.
  4. Why are ZF "disappointed with Ford Aust."? Were they hoping Ford would drop the 4 speed and only use the A6? I thought I recall reading quite a while back that Ford and GM jointly developed the A6 from the USA, I.e. the 6L80E used by Holden?
  5. I have the Lux pack but downgraded to the 18" due to appearance, load capacity and better suspension compliance. I think the leather looks miles better than the cloth trim, and that can be optioned without the Lux pack. I'm a manual fan, but the 6sp ZF is a ripper! 4 pot Brembo's won't clear the 18" alloys, don't ask how I know.
  6. Absolutely, big gains to be had. It's just like driving a G6ET now. I did the whole back wall, and even dropped the head lining and stuck a sheet on the inside of the roof (again just bare tin). When you shut the door it sounds like a Lexus :-) Although I'm not convinced the doors are really an issue, when you tap on the outside skin they now sound "tinny" in comparison to the roof and rear, so when I've got time I'll probably do them too (and change the front speakers).
  7. Pictures of the Alpine SPS-600 and the box of Dynamat I've put into the rear of the ute cabin. I was very disappointed with Ford's lack of any sound deadening in the rear of the ute cabin. The front floor and carpet all have bitumen and heavy underfelt, which would be shared with the sedans, however it's like they ran out of $ to develop anything for the utes.
  8. The ute rear speakers are 6.5", and are the cheapest speakers I've come across, all plastic frame, tiny magnet. You can seperate the speaker from the angled mount and screw in some 6.5"s, I've used the Alpine SPS-600. Not all 6.5"s speakers are a true 6.5", and in the shop not all brands lined up with the 4 tab Ford mount. I was told Alpine are one of the few that do the proper 6.5".
  9. Are you sure you're not mistaken, your phone will show "connected to Ford BT" I.e. Ford BlueTooth?
  10. The Premium sound option allows you the normal bass, mid and treble settings, plus in addition it has a (7?) band equaliser which you can also crank up to get more bass, which I find necessary on some tunes on my Ipod. Obviously you're not going to replicate a seperate sub by doing that, so it depends on what you're after. On a slightly different note, has anyone noticed that if you alter the fader either to the front OR the back, you seem to get a better sound than with it centered? I don't know what it is, but suspect that either the amplifier can send all it's grunt to 2 speakers instead of all 4, or that I have one or more speakers out of phase? Thoughts?
  11. Well on mine, pressing momentarily does nothing, no dash indication. DSC off happens with a >1sec press.
  12. I have inspected the striker as I recalled your issue, it's not loose and shows no sign of wear, etc. It does seem to be the area where the noise is coming from.
  13. So does anything show on the dash to tell you TC is off? I'm sure nothing shows on mine with just a quick press, haven't tried to test if it's off though. ;-)
  14. So I shouldn't mention the rattle I'm getting from the RH B pillar then...
  15. You sure about that? On my DSC equipped ute, press the button momentarily and nothing happens, hold it for say 2 secs and the "DSC off" displays on the centre display and the orange DSC light stays on the LHS of the cluster.
  16. So you think the topic not worthy of forum discussion?? I'm sure the dealer will repair as required, it's just that I'd rather be driving it than dropping it in for 2 visits, one to confirm and another to repair / replace.
  17. Took mine up the 110km hwy last night, and found that I have exactly the same the same noise, a constant high pitched whine when under slight acceleration, goes away as soon as you lift off (I.e. no noise on the overrun). I've also got a clunk as you load / unload the diff, or go from reverse to forward, etc. Haven't even clocked up 1,000km yet.
  18. On Saturday I pulled the rear wall trim piece away on one side, there's no sound deadening on the rear wall itself but some felt on the inside of the trim. I think my first effort will be to remove that rear trim and stick some sound deadening directly to the steel panel and see if that makes any difference.
  19. Care to elaborate on that?
  20. Apparently R1990 is the correct unit for XR's, the "hitchbox" section is longer to protrude through the bar, and the dealer will swap it when it's convenient to me (probably the 3000km service when they also replace interior trim they damaged getting the seat in and out while fitting the bluetooth and ipod). To their credit the dealership has been really good about it all. I also did my first hwy run last night and reckon I've got a slight high pitched whine from the diff in the 96 - 99km/h region. It's probably normal and may bed in, just that the ute cabin seems to get a heap of road noise through the rear wall / rear window region. I reckon the tub must reflect it to the cab, and / or the air vents on the rear wall allow it to come in?
  21. Thanks for that, however not sure of the Trailboss / HR tie up, appears HR may produce for Trailboss. I've just worked out the HR tow bar I have (R1934) is not for an FG XR6, I'm guessing the rear bar must have a different profile and that's why the receiver is in behind the bar. In conjunction with ongoing issues with both the Ipod and Bluetooth not working (after being retrofitted as they were left off the factory order) it hasn't been a totally pleasant 5 days of ownership so far. :-(
  22. Could I ask a favour please, could you tell me the make and part number of the towbar fitted (it should have a plate on it)? I ask as the dealer fitted a 2300kg Hayman Reese setup on mine, but my receiver is well behind the bumper.
  23. Which tow bar did you get? I got the Hayman Reese setup, but am a little disappointed as everything is behid the bumper, including the pin to hold the tongue (no biggie) but also the safety chains, meaning to hicth them up you have to lay on the ground. It appears they have cut the hole in the bumper so I doubt there's a plug / cap available. Dunno about noise, but interesting that going by the colour one of your pipes appears to have been much hotter then the other.
