  1. You'll learn that when you meet us at the "Golden Arches"... Bring on Sunday!
  2. Driving to work this morning... turn off Victoria Rd onto the onramp for Concord Rd... slowly come to a halt for a red light... car in front does a little start/stop nonsense when the light goes green... then SCREECH and bang as the idiot behind me plants his bumper into my towball! Interesting tidbits... - he couldn't produce his license... "I left it at home" - his bumper and license plate are trashed... no apparent damage to the Black Beast - said he was an engineer and spent the next three minutes trying to convince me not to go see a mechanic All I can say is that if there is any structural damage to my baby, this guy is gonna be toast!
  3. Aren't many places in the UK where you have a long enough stretch of private road to go that fast on. Unlike the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah or our own Lake Eyre in SA...
  4. The boyz are back! Already posted on YouTube -> Hammond's Vampire Excursion on Top Gear Unofficial British Land Speed Record Holder... Richard Hammond @ 314mph! Unofficial British Car Crash Speed Record Holder... Richard Hammond @ 288mph!
  5. I'm in.... (usual caveats apply)
  6. Eek! Hope both you and your little one pull through quickly.
  7. Well, Taipei still has power... but we were a little shaken just before lunch today!
  8. What? My Black Beast??? Nah... it's just the camera angle...
  9. Yeah, an unmarked VZ Late model camira did a u-turn and burned some rubber to catch up with us (he must have seen Cro at the back again). Followed us onto Putty Rd for a while until we got to the first twisty section, at which point he promptly stopped and went back towards Singleton. No harm, he was just doing his job. He tailed us for a while, most likely listening in on our CB chatter and then moved on to find the more idiotic drivers on the road. Regardless, we're the good guys...
  10. Great day... top roads... fantastic people... and that bloody Expensive Daewoo idiot holding us up on Putty! Twas a pleasure organising this cruise and happy to hear that you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Bring on the Feb cruise....
  11. No rain today! See you all at the rally point... 9am sharp!
  12. Weather Forecast for Sun 14 Jan Cloudy morning with the chance of a shower or two then fine and partly cloudy. Moderate southeasterly winds. Temp: 15C - 27C See ya all at 9am! And PLEASE have a full tank when you get there...
  13. I'm dependant on when we finish off the Poms tonight...
  14. Uh oh... people are starting fall faster than an English batsmen on a flat MCG wicket... Let us know if your baby makes it out tonight, Turbo6man. As for the rest of ya, looking forward to a good day on the road. Really want to have some fun before I get on a plane to Taipei @ 10:20pm Sunday night....
  15. How many times do we have to tell you, Jeff... Unload Rob's mum out of your boot and you'll be just fine...
  16. About 350-400km. Tis why I recommend topping up your fuel tank just before arriving at the meeting point. That way you'll have plenty of gas to get home afterwards.
  17. I'm fighting to make sure I go to Taipei on Sunday. First day back at work and the bastards are still trying to screw me!
  18. First Post has been updated with more cruise details. I drove the route today and nearly lost it on one of the notorious Putty Rd hairpin turns due to the slippery conditions (it scared the sh*t out of the Nissan Pulsar who was tailgating me!). Two major points for those attending: 1. PLEASE top up your tanks before you get to the meeting point in Berowra. It would be a major detour to Cessnock or Singleton if you needed to refuel along the way. Consider your fellow cruisers by doing the right thing... 2. Bring along a CB Radio. Handhelds are perfectly fine and are reasonably cheap these days. It makes my job of directing everyone during the cruise so much easier, plus the banter is just hilarious. If you need help acquiring a CB, please PM myself or Cro. Oh, and let's pray for some good weather on Sunday...
  19. You could wait for us at the intersection of Peats Ridge Rd & Old Pacific Hwy... sometime around 10:30-11:00am... but that all depends on how long it takes for us to down a gourmet pie & coffee at "Pie in the Sky"!
  20. So, are you going to get it by the end of this week? If so, I have the perfect shakedown cruise lined up for you on Sunday...
  21. The answer is simple... Top Gear road tested the Monaro because it was being sold in the UK under the Vauxhall brand (like a lot of other Holden/GMH vehicles). Jeremy loved it so much, they stopped making it... Ford on the other hand haven't even contemplated selling the XR6, XR8 or F6 range over there, so there is no chance they'll get their hands on one. A real shame, but nothing any of us can do about it.
  22. I've put together a provisional cruise calendar to cover the next 12 months. That way things can be planned a little better from an organisers point-of-view and for everyone else so that you prepare yourselves to join in the fun. I've tried to avoid all the big motoring events (GP's, V8's, etc) as well as factor in the multi-state events that we might have during the year. As you can imagine, there is a lot of event traffic that we need to steer clear of... Again, this is a provisional calendar and the dates/venues may change at any time. Nothing is finalised until I post up the specific details for a particular cruise, so please don't go posting in this thread about "xxxx event is on that weekend" or "why can't we go to xxxx". If you've got an idea or a comment, PM me directly instead. Here we go... JAN 2007 Cruise: Jan 14 => Old Pacific Hwy & Putty Rd FEB 2007 Cruise: Feb 18 => Southern Highlands Adventure A1GP in Sydney (Feb 4) MAR 2007 Superbikes GP (Mar 4) F1GP (Mar 18) V8 Series (Mar 4 & 25) APR 2007 Cruise: Apr 1 => April Fools Day Easter Weekend (Apr 6-9) V8 Series (Apr 22) MAY 2007 Cruise: May 27 => GoKart Enduro Challenge V8 Series (May 20) JUNE 2007 Rally of Canberra (Jun 2-3) Queen's Birthday Weekend (Jun 9-11) V8 Series @ Eastern Creek (Jun 10) V8 Series (Jun 24) JULY 2007 Cruise: July 1 => Bells Line to Bathurst V8 Series (Jul 22) AUG 2007 Cruise: Aug 5 => Southern Bullrun V8 Series @ Oran Park (Aug 19) SEP 2007 Cruise: Sep 12-16 => Big VIC Weekend III Rally of Forster (Sep 15-16) V8 Series @ Sandown (Sep 16) OCT 2007 Bathurst 1000 (Oct 4-7) MotoGP (Oct 7) Indy 300 (Oct 18-21) NOV 2007 Cruise: Nov 9 => Night Cruise Cruise: Nov 25 => Newcastle Hinterland Cruise V8 Series (Nov 3 & 18) DEC 2007 Cruise: Dec 16 => Xmas Cruisin! 23. FIRST NSW CRUISE OF 2007! When: Sunday, January 14th, 2007 Where: Truck Rest Stop @ Old Pacific Hwy, Berowra (formerly known as the Old Toll Booths) Starts: 9am sharp! To kick off the new year we'll go for a burn up the Old Pacific Hwy and back down Putty. Cruise Details - From Sydney take the Berowra Exit off the F3 Freeway and turn right (north) onto the Old Pacific Hwy. Top up your fuel tanks in Berowra (Shell, Mobil, Caltex) and proceed north. Take the Old Pacific Hwy Exit just north of town and once you are on the exit ramp enter the Truck Stop in the right lane (miss it and you have a long drive ahead before you can do a safe u-turn). - Coffee & Gourmet Pies at "Pie in the Sky". - Up the Old Pacific Hwy, then Peats Ridge Rd on our way to lunch at the Wollambi Tavern. - From lunch it's up to Broke (it has a 600m dirt section), cutting west to jump on Putty Rd for the run home via Windsor. Bring your CB radio so that you will know what is going on during the cruise (directions, updates, silly commentary and a few good laughs). PLEASE have a full fuel tank when you arrive at the meeting point. Shell & Mobil are on the Old Pacific Hwy as you drive into Berowra and a Caltex is just off the highway on the left at the Berowra Waters Rd turnoff (near the train station). Good friends, good roads and some really good cars! 24. Thanks to those "select few champions" who turned up to give Buffy and I a little run up the coast yesterday. Shaz, anything is better than driving on the wrong side of the road in a Renault Lagoona Estate Diesel for a week in France...
