The Xr6 Bible
Sad but true, I need a Nitrous controler to bleed the Nos out so the clutch dosn't get the shock of its life. On the bright side I rather cook my clutch than a pop the gear box. Dyno works no problem and its awsome on a track day, but the set up as it stands today is not set up for the 400m dash. May knock it back to a 50 or 75 shot that would help a lot. Ive only done flat 15-second passes off Nos, after tuning now with 14 rwkw extra thanks to C&V last week, who knows maybe a 14.7-second pass, could be lower but Im not the Stig. Note: all 15-second passes Ive done have been after the use of Nos so my poor little clutch was already baked, and at no time was I flat changing. I like low times but I also like driving home after. BTW what I can run on Nos isn't really what I care about, Im after a 13-second pass off Nos............Dare to Dream. ← Hi there guys, Over 3 years ago fellow forum member XR6TU and myself pioneered with making our XR6 BA N/A's faster. We were probably the first to install performance chips, exhausts, headers, CAI on the BA N/A as the parts became available. The results were pretty good considering it was only bolt on mods. I am happy there is still alot of BA-BF N/A owners wanting more out of their rides. Sadly I sold my XR6 5 months ago and I do miss how well it drove. My best run down the 1/4 was a 14.71@96MPH which wasnt too shabby considering a couple my mates in XR6T's ran 14.6's same day. Cheers, Ex XR6 N/A driver

Xr6 N/a Owners
That's an excellent time by your mate. Best time so far for me is a 14.71 @ 96mph. Not a perfect launch but pretty happy for a N/A BA XR6 with only bolt on mods. 14.5 is only around the corner for me with the soon to be installed VCT controller. Cheers, Simon

Edit & Servicing
Is there any truth that Ford servicing departments purposely install so called "ECU updates"..............which in fact plays havic with the ability of the "Edit" to perform once the standard ECU has been reflashed?, or is this just a rumour.

Need More Power For N/a
Fair Call... but not everybody can afford the "T" nor the insurance if you are under 25. The XR6 N/A is still a great car and with a few mods can make it even better. Cheers, Simon

Need More Power For N/a
faygun, Give Steve from Redcliffe Dyno and performance a ring in Qld or try his website. He has complete performance packages for the N/A and distributes into NSW. This guy knows his stuff and will not fill you full of crap and sell all the things you don't need. Cheers, Simon

Warranty Problems - Ba Xr6
Must be a August build thing....Mine is Aug 03 and the exact same problems as you...right down to the leaking indicator lense all before 10000km. Don't be too discouraged, mine was all fixed easily by ford. Since then my only problem has been the SHH SHH noise (tightend handbrake), creaky back end (re-tightened suspension) and oops.....almost forgot.....a new diff All the best, Simon

Rdp Xr6t Upgrade
Mine's not a "T' but my XR6 N/A auto with Steve's RDP enhancement package almost goes like a stock "T". Onya Steve....by the way last run was 14.7@96mph which is not too shabby for an auto N/A. Cheers, Happy N/A driver!!

$2800 seems pretty expensive for an exhaust and a computer ,. but I guess Jim Mocks' Dev3 is about the same . Who does RDP's computer ? . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah JMM is about the same dough....with much the same result. The RDP computer, I think, was formally known as the TSI Piggyback in the past. RDP exhaust comprises of a 2.5 inch exhaust, Pacemaker extractors, your choice of a resinator (depending how loud you want it) and a Hi-flow Cat. You also get a hi-flow filter for your airbox. I'm no expert but I think the you need the piggyback computer to tie in all the above mods for optimum performance. The piggyback chip allows adjustment of injector flow, air mixtures, timing advancement if so required etc. The RDP package has improved my XR's drivability 10 fold. The enhancements have also increased my rwkw quite significantly for a N/A, but where I can see the most improvement is in the torque....my N/A just seems to keep pulling hard through every gear. I am running in the 14's down the quarter at the moment which is not too shabby for an auto BAXR6 N/A with just bolt on mods considering the weight of these machines. If I had a choice , forced induction would be the only way to go...lol. Cheers, Simon.

I second that!!!! Wayne, has your beast started to respond to the extra air from the 2nd CAI yet?? It may take alittle while but worth it in the end. Cheers, Simon.

Gimli's 2nd Cai
So that bit of rubber from Bunnings is that bit with the barcode on it?? What part of bunnings did you find it in?? It looks like a very good fit to me! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a 100mm rubber joiner in the plumbing dept. Cheers.

Gimli's 2nd Cai
No worries Wayne, I just made the hole in the airbox for you......you did the time consuming stuff by removing the stock airbox and bolting the modded box back in. I reckon it wont be too long before you will want some more help installing my latest mod on the Silverbullet....lol. You seemed to be quite impressed when my N/A skipped sideways between the 1st and 2nd gear change in SSS mode. Cheers, Simon.

Plug Gap
Dynowog, I've done some fairly significant mods to the N/A but no internals at this stage. My Km's are starting to get up there and the car gets driven fairly hard (redline nearly everyday), have I wasted my money on Spitfire platium twin sparks for my N/A?? Thanks in advance.
-
Plug Gap
I just measured the stock plug gap...1.321mm. Does this change things!!
-
Plug Gap
Thanks, I've bought some performance plugs and want to get it right the first time. If I went to the 0.9mm gap straight away I wonder if that would cause any problems?? Cheers.

Plug Gap
What would be the best Plug Gap for the BA XR6 N/A??? Would it be the same as the "T"??? Cheers.

I'm not too concerned about Boss edit as I am currently running a piggyback chip anyway. Pretty much done all I want for the bolt on mods also. A set of "Performance Cams".... depending on price.......sounds very interesting to me!!

Hi NOS, I don't, but I'd love to know more!!! Cheers.

Calling all XR6 NA owners!
Simon you read my mind mate! I was just thinking the same thing today (bringing back the NA thread). How about some stories about why people chose the N/A? Simon, wanna get the ball rolling? Julza <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm probably not a great example of why I chose the N/A.......don't get me wrong, it is the best car I have ever purchased however, I would have bought the "T" in a second if my budget allowed me to. If I can't have the "T", then the N/A with enhancement mods is the next best thing. Under $3000 buys you at least 230kw flywheel power on the N/A which is as quick as a stock "T"...... 0-130kph from a standing start.

Calling all XR6 NA owners!
Go Team N/A!! Let's try to keep the thread going!! Come on guys we don't have "T"s but ultimately we support the BA XR6......is that right????? Who is doing what to their N/A??.........Tell your story!! Cheers, Simon
