Converting My Ba Brakes To Brembos
Gday mate. I have a BF but what you want to do is similar to the path I went on. I went for PBR-Ms for variuos reasons and was told my 18"s would fit over them. And they did as far as diameter goes but the spoke of the wheel was too thick on the inside and didnt clear the front caliper. So, just cause you have 18"s don't assume. Make sure you check the clearance. Mine came as a kit but no, you don't have to change the master cylinder, but it would be advisable to change to braided brake lines. Not expensive and helps keep the lines compresses under pressure so you don't loose feel or performance. Also, my kit came with, and I was advised to change brake fluid from the standard dot 3 to dot 4. You will have to do a complete bleed of the system, starting with the passenger rear, then the drivers rear, then pass front and drivers front so you pull the most new fluid through the system. Do all those things and you should be fine. The other thing is rotors. Many will tell you the brembo rotors wear too much and the preferred combo, I am told, is the brembo calipers and DBA rotors. Mate I'm not a mechanic but I did do all my brakes myself. They stop like stink and everyone comments on the look so I must have dont something right. Other mays have differing opinions. That's what you want though, to get as much info as you can. Good luck.

Track Day Interest
You guys are all looney. lol Ok. As it stands at the moment, there is an organisation that specialises in running these days. Adam put me on to them last night. Its around $160 per car and we don't run it, the other mob do so there will be other cars there. I don't know HOW many cars there would be but at $160 it would be up around 50 I would think. They provide everything, timing, medical, marshals etc and we (I) don't have to do anything. I will look into in today and post some details. They run these days regularly and there is one on the 26th. (Obviously too soon) But I was thinking May/June perhaps when there is no cruises and I can get a trans cooler fitted before hand.lol Anyway, watch this space.

Ba Front Brakes
Hi. Havent heard of the dimpled ones. But have heard cross drilled crack but I dont think its common. Its quite possible that the replacement rotors you got suffered the same fate as the standard ones and as is mentioned, the standard pads are crap. I would definately try a set of DBA rotors. Match them with the right pads and youll be sweet. Sounds like you may be a heavy braker like I am. that's alot of problems from rotors. How many ks has the car done?

Ba Front Brakes
Firstly, welcome JJ and never be scared to ask a question. We will rarely make fun of you. lol Mate I had a NA BA II and had shudder ALL the time. Put it in for service, they'd machine the disks and 3 weeks later, same thiong. There are some simple things. When you stop at the lights dont keep your foot on the brake so hots spots dont appear. But that's just crap. They are porrly designed and you cant escape it. Everyone here will tell you basicaly the same...get rid of them and put some DBA rotors on. The standard calipers should be ok with some decent pads. I dont use the DBAs myself but everyone raves about them. Even if you dont go DBAs and just get some replacement non ford rotors, this will more than likely fix it. Have a hunt around in the brakes section and youll see lots of discussions on brakes and pads and rotors. If your not going to upgrade to Brembos, or APs or PBR-ms like me, then change your rotors. Oh and by the way, Fords "permanent" fix for mine was to fit pads, so soft, my wheels went black in a day. Hope this helps.

Anyone In Vic With A Loud Bov
Yeah mate they are around. There was a charcoal BF T up in Sunshine a couple years back. They will get whatever has a bit of go. Doesn't surprise me at all. Be an auto too. What colour was it? I'll keep an eye out. As I said mine from the outside is stock. And I keep reasonable hours. lol And guys, I have been really busy this week so our video will have toi wait till next week possibly, unless you are around on Satuday night.

Anyone In Vic With A Loud Bov
TonyD, where are all these hooms??? It must be me and the hours I keep. Either that or they look at my brakes and sh1t themselves. Its probablys the "grandpa" colour too. I dunno. Although I did have a red Pintara try to take me the other night. I didn't bother wasting the petrol to be honest. But I seem to draw a different crowd. Like Rusty came over the other day and tells me how all these cars wanna drag him when he got into Werribee, and beleive him, but I seem to get Astions and Porsches wanna have a go. Must be my gentleman good looks. But I LOVE looking at a snubsport with his big 317 on the back and I think to myself, yep, I put that out with one wheel...just about. 80 or 90 k and if he had have gone for an F6 and modded it, he could have got 450 at the wheels and not touched the motor. But then I remember he bought a snubsport for looks...not for go.

Track Day Interest
There would have to be more than 50 members from Vic. Maybe we get a mod to send a pm to all vic members to see if they are interested. If we got it down to under $150, that's heaps cheper than Calder, better curcuit and its all ours for the day. Be a great social gathering and Gary would go ape droppings for the photo opps of 50 odd XR Ts. The colour line up would look amazing. But I agree Rus, don't think we will get the numbers I'm afraid.

Track Day Interest
Cant find it mate. I tried for Broadford as well but that's more suited to bikes. Philip Island do drive days but you need a Cams licence and I dont think they hire the curcuit.

Track Day Interest
Calder Park. Calder PArkss fee structure is a little difference but about the same cost. Track hire is $6k, $600 isnurance, $800 for safety office, $1000 for medical staff. that's all ext gst. Calder park to offer free practice days. These are $220 pre day per driver.

Track Day Interest
Ok guys. A track day at Winton during the week as this is cheapest, with full marhsalls, medical, timing etc, is a little over $8k. To make it cost effective, in other words make it cheap enough we need at least 41 cars. With 41 people that will make it $200 a head. Obviously the more people we had, the less cost itr would be. That amount includes Ambulance for the day as well, public liability insurance. Gates would open at 8 and we would have the track till 6.30. Catering is available but I'd suggest we get a heap of meat and have bbq or all put in something extra nad have a catered lunch. But that's down the track. To get it down to say $150 per person, we would need about 55 people. Now before you say that's alot, its not, and when you consider how big the track is, that's not many. We could have sessions, 20 mins on, 20 mins off or similar. So, Winton is viable. If we do it on a weekend, its about an extra $2k. Comments please.

Subs Or Speakers First?
I spoke to a guy from JB Hi Fi that had been installing car stereo for 30 years. He was a bit of an arse actually and basically hung it on everything. But his advice sounded pretty good. He said, as listed above, the backs are there for the rear seat passengers. So stuff them. He asked what I hoped to acheive and I just said better quality. He said the best thing to do is put a sub and amp in. Then you can wind back the bass from the ICC and overall sound will improve as distortion will be less, plus you get the oomph. He recomended a few but I never listen to them when they go the sale. But its in line with what most of you say. My daughter had those MB quartz splits in her honda and they sounded the goods. I bought them for her for christmas a couple of years back. She stacked the car and now they are sitting my garage. MMM, time to get the screw driver out. She'll never know. lol
