Someone Tried To Steal My Xr6t!
The alarm in the XR's are just the simple open door alarm goes off ones... ARGH! That's pretty crap for $500+. Looks like I'll take it off my options list get a Good ol' Cobra alarm put in with shock and microwave. Ultrasonics are ok, but when you have an open window on a windy day, the wind sets them off.

What Options = What Wait?
I hope they are but they are finally making a profit and it seems that they don't really care about the enthusiasts like us. They care more about the people who don't know anything about anything.

Scratched My Car :-(
So I guess they'd class this "little" scratch as a write off. Unless you have NRMA as your insurance company that is They'd probably just say "a little bog will fix that up, no worries"

My First Speeding Fine In The T...
I hate those 2 motorbike cops. They always setup a speed trap on Gunghalin drive (on the Gunghalin bound lanes) in the little trees at Palmerston (about 20 or so metres behind the "Palmerston" sign). I see them there alteast once a week.

What Options = What Wait?
Ordered my T on June 19th and optioned premium brakes, premium sound, leather interior etc and my dealer is still telling me that it's going to be a September build. But time will tell. At no time was I told that certain options would cause more of a delay. Here's hoping. Oh yeah, still no SIDO after 5 weeks.

Someone Tried To Steal My Xr6t!
Yeah, I would never have a car without an alarm again. My pulsar SSS got broken into last year (smashed driver window, smashed center console missing $1000 CD Player). Had no alarm. If I had it I would've seen them breaking in because I was about 200 metres away watching soccer. After that drama got an alarm put in and got a $20 rebate from NRMA, wow.

Premium Audio
Only just saw this thread, so I'll throw in my 2 cents. The sound should be concentrated at the front. Because of this the better speakers should be in the front. Rear speakers should be (as meantioned before in this thread) used as fillers and there is no need to buy the best speakers for the back. But having speakers with some tweeters and midrangers can be a bonus. Subwoofers don't have to be in a specific spot. Mainly because low end sound is non directional. I actually haven't heard how the premium sound in an XR is but it should be easy to tweak it with no major hassles. Before I trade in my Pulsar SSS I will be pulling out the amps and the Subwoofer box (with 2 x 10" rockford fosgate PUNCH subbies in a hypobaric box in a push pull config) and most likely transfering them to the XR6T when it arrives. I just hope the body panelling can handle the sound stress aswell as my pulsar sorta did.

Extended Wait For My Xr6t
That's what I'm afraid of

Extended Wait For My Xr6t
My order was actually placed on the 13th July (online quotation at ford.com.au and the date on the top of my order) and I went to the dealer and put my deposit down on the 19th July (signed the paperwork etc). At the beginning of this they were expecting a september build. On friday (4 or so weeks after order) I went to the dealer to ask whether my SIDO has come through and they didn't have it. However I was assured by the salesman that my car WILL be a September build. It's just a matter of which 10 day slot in the month my car is put in. He also said that his dealership "usually" gets allocated the first 10 days of the month. All that said, I am still very unsure. No SIDO number, no set build date. Oh well. I hope the 1 month wait so far is 1/3 :D of the wait rather than 1/4 or even 1/5 of the wait so far. :(

Brake Shudder Issue: Causes & Fixes (Rotors, Pads, Bushes)
After reading this thread I've decided to add PREMIUM BRAKES to my options list. From what I've read, premiums don't have any major probs at all and reviewers in mags etc seem to say "Go the premiums". They will come at a cost though. I'm going to take the sat nav off my options list. I didn't really need it anyway (canberra is an easy place to drive) and maps are way cheaper and I seem to find my way around pretty well even in Sydney or Melbourne. Plus if I do get lost the XR6T isn't exactly a bad thing to drive (any excuse).

Heater No Go.....
Yeah, true.. Canberra does get cold in the mornings. Being on a building site by 7am every morning sure does get cold. It's especially bad in a Mazda E2000 truck. The damn heater doesn't start working until we're practically at work which is usually about a 5-10 minute drive away. Thankfully when we work further away the heater does give us some heat. Anyways.. I gotta ask this question.. How fast does the heat start circulating in the BA's? In the XF I drove years ago it'd take about a 10-15 minute drive for it to start heating up. In the Mazda truck the same. In my Pulsar SSS it's almost instant (reverse out of driveway drive about 1-2 minutes)

Am I Being Too Fussy?
My post may get a little OT You can never be to fussy. I wish I was when I got my Pulsar SSS. On the scheduled services I would tell the dealership that reverse gear was a problem. They said they checked, and nothing wrong. I'd remind a few more times at other services and they said there was no problem. After a while I thought that it was maybe just the standard gearbox thing. Then when the warrenty went out, a few months later my second gear would pop out every now and then under deseleration. I took it to them, they tested and fault didn't repeat. I then just gave up... Bad thing. the Gearbox shat itself and I was up for a $3500 rebuild (labour was the killer). I got my dad (who is a way better negotiator than I am) to call Nissan Australia. After quite a few phone calls to them etc, nissan said 50/50. We agreed and that was that. Then a few weeks after picking it up 1st gear would sometimes pop out. I took it to the dealership and they couldn't see how it would happen (considering that it was a "new" gearbox). Then after going back and forth and guess what. They saw that the engine mounts were sagging and all they did was adjust one of the mounts that aligns the motor and Problem Solved. Basically, my gearbox shat itself (2nd gear to be exact) because the motor was slightly out of alignment because of the sagging engine mounts. Since then no problems. Oh... Apart from the clutch fork breaking and costing me quite a few hundred dollars to get fixed. That was the final thing that made me decide to go and put a deposit on the XR6 T

Finally Picked Up
Onya, and maybe we'll meet on a get-together sometime ... you'll need to take a ticket though, as many already have baseball bats and brass knuckles in preparation for a quick chat with me. That won't be a problem Ken.. Just jump into your merc silver beast and they won't catch you. Merc Silver is faster than the rest isn't it?

Oh No, I Won't Be Alone
Well, if you've ever been to summernats at EPIC (exhibition Park In Canberra), Mitchell is where EPIC is. All the warehouses, shops and "entertainment" etc are about a 5 minute walk from EPIC

Oh No, I Won't Be Alone
Ok, I'll put my hand up for the Merc Silver T in Fyshwick on the 12/6. I was there doing the rounds of the..um...how do I put this.... furnature shops, yes that was it furnature shops... . Isher Fyshwick ... isn't that the porno area of Canberra? Yes, I'm sure someone told me about that, once. What were you doing there again? And what were you doing there KrasH? I was doing my usual rounds of the electrical, computer stores and the odd car yard. honest. Anyways, Mitchell is so much better for that stuff. Only walking distance from where I live.. Did I just type that?

Oh No, I Won't Be Alone
I didn't option the 18's. But after the T arrives, and the first tyres wear out, I will most likely get a set of 19's instead

Oh No, I Won't Be Alone
When I ordered my T about 3 weeks and 3 days ago I decided to choose Blood Orange as the colour of it. At the time I never saw a blood orange T or XR in Canberra and thought I'd have a unique colour. Wrong.. Yesterday in the Canberra suburb of Fyshwick I saw a Blood Orange XR6 (unknown if it was turbo, didn't see the back) and boy did it looked good. (I also saw a Merc Silver T and a Blueprint T aswell) Today I saw a seriously mean looking blood orange XR8 ute going around the Barton Highway roundabout. These 2 cars were the only 2 Blood Orange XR's I've ever seen on the road ever.
